Anyone surprised with their recommended config?

I have a pretty solid GPU (GTX1060 6GB) that was supposed to be good enough for the recommended build (i.e. optimal graphics), but it is actually pretty hazy and my GPU is at 100% constantly whenever I fly next to some ground... Am I the only one? Everything else (CPU, RAM) runs at around 70% capacity.

For me it's weird, I don't hit 100% GPU usage on the planets or combat zones, only in the stations.
If it's not in space then it's 30 fps gameplay for me

No, you're not the only one. Odyssey performs very poorly, even on RTX 30*0 series cards.

Performance hasn't changed significantly since the alpha. I accepted the poor performance on the alpha, but for a live release it's a bit of a joke.
Do you think this is something they can fix? Bad design somewhere? Or do we all need to get a strong upgrade in order to get 60FPS with... medium graphics?!

Stations are ot that fluid either actually, but planetary ground I need to use low quality settings to get it realy fluid while I had 60FPS and a 40% utilisation rate with optimals in Horizons!

Meanwhile I'm happy that I can play on 1440p again as opposed to having horrible performance even on 1080p as in the alpha.

Sure, I'm not getting the 100+ frames per second I used to have on that resolution in Horizons, but for me it's not anywhere near alpha levels bad (now its near 60fps on average, which I personally consider playable).

I also haven't reset my graphics overrides yet that I still had in place from Horizons, I had some issues with some of those settings during the alpha as well so maybe that may still improve something (or not). So I wouldn't say there isn't a difference in performance for me compared to Horizons, but still notably better performance for me than the alpha had.

FYI:
CPU: AMD 2700X (not OCed or boosted)
GPU: AMD RX 5600XT 6GB (on latest 21.5.2 drivers, not OCed)
Mem: 32GB DDR4 3200 (clocked to 3000)

Yes. Some people with low-end hardware are performing better than expected, some with high-end hardware are getting low double digit FPS. Stuff like fire effect, looking at the menus, and looking around the bar area, are weirdly tanking performance. There appear to be bugs aplenty affecting performance. Fingers crossed it improves soon.

Same issue here, though the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q of my laptop isn't affected. (Still 30 FPS near fire, and 50 FPS in stations after a graphics settings file wipe)

I guess it's VRAM choke because the GPU is constantly tasked with loading and unloading textures as its VRAM is filled to the brim.

Wiping the graphics settings file and redoing your graphics settings from the default profile will fix the issue if your GPU has 8 GB VRAM or more. (It did on my laptop)
