anyone tried the CV1 with a 980m?

my Rift now arrives here on monday!!!! wooohoooo

unfortunately my PC takes longer as i didnt expect the Rift before the end of the month....

Now I do have a Laptop with 2 x 980m but as SLi is not working with Elite in VR I wonder if one 980m can at least give a decent
initial way to Play?!

I'll try and find time to give it a try on my SLI 980m laptop over the weekend for you (with SLI disabled of course)

From what I've read, you'll be able to use VR - the 980M has about the same as a 970 desktop GPU (maybe a little less).

See what UniMag says - it will probably be fine on lower settings - and then you can look forward to cranking the settings up once your new PC arrives!

I'm playing with a HTC Vive on a MSI GT80 with 980m's. It's mostly judder free on VR Low settings. I haven't driven around in a SRV yet but I haven't experienced much judder skimming planets so far. I think the only place that I've taken a big hit was at the Dweller's base and that was with lots of players flying around.

Incidently, I just tried to buy the MSI upgrade to put desktop grade 980s in this thing but found they were discontinued. MSI just EOL'd them because they are gearing up to start shipping 1080 equipped laptops. Supposedly they are going to hit in Q3 with upgrade kits coming Q4.

Elite does in fact work just fine i Sli.. I thought the same thing about SLi and only had one of my cards installed. I decided to install the 2nd just to see and it worked. my SLi indicator is lighting up my monitor window and I cant find a hint of latency on two GTX670's. you may want to try your SLi config again.

Elite does work with SLI I Play it in SLi but it doesn not work with VR SLI because Elite does not Support it which leads to less FPS if you Play in VR with SLI vs VR with just one of your Cards!

So i am playing Elite Dangerous with the Dk2 and the newest Runtime. With the DebugTool i use 2-2.5 pixel override to get a more clear image.
My Notebook is a MSI GT80 Titan SLI. Running 2xGTX980M - 32GB RAM and an I7-4980HQ which is not the best CPU.
Everything runs fine and smooth even the Nvidia Geforce Experience keep saying my PC is not VR ready....

SLI + VR works fine for me

I will get my CV1 soon and i am pretty sure it will also run fine..if not i will upgrade my tower pc and switch from GTX Titan to GTX 1080.

I really love ED in VR. Its the only game i mostly enjoy.

wow 2 - 2.5 ss with the debug tool?!?! thats way more than People achieve with the 1080?!?! If true I am happy of Course cause I got pretty much the same Laptop!
But I somehow have a hard time believing this?!?! As the game is not coded to Support VR SLI yet.... what Settings do you use? and WHat fps do you get?

Yeah thansk no worries! I think I sould be fine according to the answers I either Play in low Details or with 2x ss! LOL quite the range... lets see - tomorrow I will be smarter!
