Anyone UK based and/or north of the wall? - a get together for Elite-ists (Elit-ers?)

:D Big thanks to the organisers- it wiz pure dead brilliant, soitwiz!

Loads of highlights included a lovely lady (didn't catch her name, sorry ) showing me how to use a Rift setup; Grant bimbling over and setting up his so I could use pedals for yaw and just messing about in VR for an hour; the Truckers comedy stint; Ed singing (he's really good!) and, of course, meeting loads of Elite fans. Great night!

An interesting and fun event - although being my first time in such I was a bit like a fish out of water - wandering around aimlessly and hoping to get to chat with folks ;)

Oh and one of the forum mods just about won every raffle item - which was hilarious ;)

I didn't win anything in the raffle - which is par for the course for me.

The consolation was that a very kind couple gave me a Hutton Mug! :D

Showed a number of folks Captain's Log and gave an impromptu course on it from installation/setup to actual usage to a few who asked - really enjoyed that.

Gave a copy of a prototype-but-fully-working Mac version of Captain's Log to someone with a Mac - nice to see it running on actual Mac hardware rather than the Hackintosh I use ;)

Played the ED Landing Pad Dart Game - which is awesome by the way. Only got 500 points and it was a miracle no one around got a dart in the forehead :p

Watched Ed Lewis singing & playing guitar - he's really good!

Got to play EDH with a HMD - never mind the "cleanup" training mission, first thing I did was select the "Jumping to another system" training mission and just flew in and around the Coriolis station and was "OMG"-ing and giggling like a little kid all the time. I have GOT to get an Oculus!

Got very drunk with lots of awesome folks in The Bungalow - didn't stagger into bed until 4:30 this morning, got about 4 hours sleep and was basically on autopilot from 9:30am onwards.

Bumped into Ed Lewis and another chap waiting for a train back into Glasgow Central station as well, had a nice wee chat on the train.

Fantastic event, guys, and if I can find the funds to come to more Elite Meets and other events, I will try and do so :)

Regards o7

There are universes upon universes upon universes...

It was an excellent event. Thanks to everyone involved in setting it up and all the people who brought stuff along.

Thanks especially to Steve for showing me that card/disc game. I think it was called samurai fight, or something like that. Maybe the fact that I actually won at it influenced my opinion of it, but then I enjoyed all the games I sat around the table playing with the rest of you, even the ones at which I was terrible. I never managed to win a single hand of "Crimes Against Humanity", but then as Alien pointed out, maybe being unable to play that game successfully is something which should be applauded.
