Anyone using a Razer Tartarus/Orbweaver for throttle on an M&K setup? Advice?

Thinking of getting a Tartarus. What I'm particularly curious about is the hat switch it has. Possible yaw control? I prefer roll on my mouse X-axis. Is the hat four- or eight-way?

And does Elite Dangerous recognise the device separately from the keyboard?

Thank you?

Edit: title meant to say on an M&K.

I have an old Tartarus but haven't touched it for a while (and can't right now), but from what I remember the hat is 8 ways and very clicky, it's basically the arrow keys on your keyboard. On that point, I think it was sending the same signals to the computer as your keyboard keys, unless you defined macros on it, no idea how Elite handles that.

Now, one thing that annoyed me to no end is that the device required you to install a specific software to work, AND you had to register an account to use it. Had this not been a gift, I don't think I'd have ever bought it.

ive got the orbweaver, altho i use it while using hotas. you can do allot of stuff with it, but for me it still sees it at keyboard buttons.

the hat-switch is an 8 way, but you can set it as a 4 way too.

Alright, thanks guys. Yeah I know about the software. Razer Synapse. I use it a lot, so for me, that's actually a selling point. :)

I've been using the Razer Tartarus exclusively for ED for a year or so... It's generally pretty good and very comfortable; controls (keys + hat) are completely configurable to any key on the keyboard (and it allows multiple configurations).
However, the thing I dislike most about it is the hat (it's a 8-way). It's not _that_ bad, but generally it feels a bit too sensitive, hence I try not to rely on it too much - mainly just when docking (I've got it mapped to using lateral and vertical thrusters.)
Not sure if this is feature with hat-switches - I find a similar-ish problem with the my joystick hat as well...
ED doesn't see it as a separate device, it acts more like a "duplicate" keyboard key.
Oh and I've mapped 4 keys on it for throttle (full throttle, blue zone-ish area, full reverse and stationary).

Thanks guys. I think I will buy one. A hat switch is the one thing I miss from a HOTAS.
