Great name, and welcome to the spooky world of pixelated space! Give me a friend request / shout in game; I fly in one of the Mobius private groups that have already been posted. There really should be no need for you to have the hassle of making and inviting people to a new group mate, as that is what Mobius is largely for, albeit not a PvP group. I meet new people every day in taht group though, probably quite literally - I think about ten new players today in the CG RES site.
But give me a shout or one of the other guys on here, and I hope you will be pleasantly surprised that people in game are not as 'dropped on their heads when young' as you may fear they are!! For me check out my CMDR name on the signature below, and make sure to find me with the 'dots' in my name or I have no idea what you might end up with!? Not sure when exactly I will be on tomorrow but probably in the afternoon game time. However as The Chief has said: check out the elitepve.com/index.php page as it is the home for the Mobius group and probably the best place to start in a friendly way, without getting ganked in any case! Take care of yourself and hope to see you soon; bring lots of honey and I will chase you Mr Badger!!
