Engineers Anyone with Type 9 with class 5 dirty drives?

So I've got my type 9 with class 5 FSD which is awesome. The next thing would be to up its speed with 7A thrusters and class 5 dirty drives. However I've heard of people having heat problems with this on the type 9 and wonder if anyone else experiences this and what they did to metigate this?

Type 9 isn't too bad for heat, and if you are not running lots of power hungry stuff, you could also add the efficient powerplant mod.

I'm running with rank 5 clean drives and an overpowered PP, but that's because i have lots of power hungry modules. I think a trader should be fine.

You do get hot when charging a modded FSD, but that's only a problem if you are trying to jump near to a star, otherwise should be ok if you move away a bit.

Give it a go, and any problems switch out for a clean drive instead.

Just remember, its a % multiplier. Even with grade 5 DD, don't expect amazing results unless you get a good roll combined with a good secondary effect. Low base speed and agility means even with multiplier, your basically adding little.

Having said that, with my grade 5 clean drives, i do feel the difference. My T9 now feels like a T7! :D

If you have heat issues then clean drives would be the better upgrade I believe. You sacrifice a bit of the speed.

The heat is fine, done two builds so far frags and rails/cannons. And this is with the G5 dirties, a very nice upgrade.

I put the A7 drives off my conda on to try them out. They were a bit hot when buckyballing (scooping and jumping as quick as possible) but should be fine apart from that.

While the A7 L5 DD made a significant improvement in handling - it was still very T9 like so I went back to my D7 drives and went for clean drive tuning.

I never expected an engineered type 9 to be so awesome. Yeah heat doesn't seem to be a problem. I only heard of problems from jumping between stars and just have to move a little bit further than usual.

Getting ready to buy a Type 9.
What jump range did you end up with?

with 500 tons of cargo I have 18.52LY jump range. Unloaded, I have 25.8LY

That's with 5A powerplant, D rated everything else, 5A shield generator, 3 shield boosters and chaff.

Holy cow. This is beautiful.

With some seeker missiles targeting their drives, you would have had them much quicker, no?

Yes, probably would be better against hulltanks, but shieldtank targets would be much more of a hassle, the builds I made was for both types. Although I did run into ammo issues against cutters/corvettes/anacondas with the frag build. Basically had enough ammo for the shields, then I was out.
The rail/cannon build was better at shielded targets but slower at dps and burst.

Ive met combat NPC Type-9 (missiles) in HI CZ. Crazy sheet. Did him with my jaws dropped. He was performing good.
