Anything I can do about screen door on my Rift?

My Rift S broke, had to revert to my old Rift. I love the smoothness of the 90hz but my word, that screen door! Flying above the dark side of a planet, or where the texture is like a... screen door? is horrid.
I am getting a new graphics card some time in the new year, and sometime after that a better HMD but for now, is there anything I can do to lessen the effect?
Thanks!

The main drawback of generation 1 headsets is the screendoor, no getting around that I'm afraid. :(
I'm still using my CV1 for Elite, but I also have a Quest (1) for portable VR, and the Quest has kind of ruined the CV1 for me since it has significantly less screendoor effect. Currently eyeing the Quest 2 as a possible replacement for my CV1, depends on how this Link business plays out. Tried Link with the Quest 1 and wasn't too impressed.

You can turn on supersampling which helps - set it to 1.5 or 2.0 if your system can handle it.

Another thing you can do is change your HUD colours to predominantly green - the Rift has more green pixels than red or blue, so the screen door is less noticeable.

Other than that, buy a new headset. 🤷‍♀️

No. Supersampling does not help.

The panels resolution is the panels resolution, that is a hardware, physical limitations. The best you get is some brute force AA and more data for the lens distortion algorithms to work with.
So a little might improve a little bit, but outside of 1.3 are utterly use less.
And even though it might seem "sharper" you will not actually display any actual new detail.

No matter what detail you super sample and render at, the video feed to the HMD will always be native panel resolution at 90hz.

It's same as if you get a4k video and play it on a 480i tv.
You won't see 4k.

Yeah - get an HP reverb 😁

Nah, sorry - but that's a hardware property of the panel. Defocussing (like mentioned above, wear unsuitable prescription glasses) or a good layer of vaseline on the lens would help, but come with other drawbacks that you (probably) will like even less.

Yeah, thought so.
Bummer

How did you break your Rift S? I want to know so I can avoid doing the same.
The sensors, or a sensor, or something related to the sensors just malfunctioned one day. Probably a dodgy batch. I try to take care of my toys and treat them gently.
My CV1 suffered the right headphone issue but at least I can use 5.1 for cockpit games and headphones for the rest

I use the Q2 with the link (& VD sometimes). I also have the Valve Index. The Index is gathering dust since I've been using the Q2.
Seriously, get the Q2. there's no SDE, 90hz refresh, 2K per eye screens, plus the freedom of VD wireless when I get the urge to walk around the ship. I've got the HTC Vive (with lens mod), Valve Index, Q1 & Q2. The Q2 was the best money I ever spent. And BTW, the link cable I use is a £16 Amazon special. It's smooth as...
