Apologies to the CMDR in the Asp who I blew up in the Arexe system.

Hello CMDR A****** - Name has been redacted.

Lets just clear one thing up.. I've had several glasses of wine.. But I have absolutely no idea if that had any involvement in the happenstance of my involvement in our 'incident'.

All I know is that I left the Coriolis, at regular speeds, then I sped up. Suddenly, your Asp filled my sights and... Well.. We collided! Destiny [my high-maintenance ship's computer] said that your shields had gone offline, "Ah, well. No harm done." then noticed your hull go to 0% and heard that unmistakable BOOM!

Err.. Sorry!

I personally thought I was a goner and was ready to finish the rest of my glass of wine.. Whilst rocking out to Collins' drumming on Down And Out, from their hit-album, ".. And Then There Were Three". Are you a fan of Genesis? I particularly like anything post 1975; when Collins' took over the helm. I wasn't a huge fan of Peter Gabriel's artsy-fartsy-type musical direction. Their more modern, commercial (new-wave genre) is more 'my bag'. I mean, the Peter Gabriel years were probably sparking some form of rivalry with Pink Floyd - competing for the top spot in that psychedelic/progressive-rock space - but really, there was zero competition.

Anyways, consolation - I blew up my Asp tonight too. Henceforth, I sold my Asp and went back to an ole-reliable Cobra! And rightly so, since it can survive a head-on collision with an Asp, at great speeds - It is most definitely the ballocks! [I may or may have not upgraded everything to the eye-balls].

Anywhoo Commander, you have my most sincere apologies. I most definitely hope you have enough money for insurance! I don't want to see another, "Boohoo! My Asp is gone, I'm in a Sidewinder. FU FDev!" type threads..

Kind regards,
CMDR Jambo McAllister

NB,
Since I was on the topic of Genesis and I managed to escape our encounter without a scratch.. Here's a Collins' classic:

Speaks volumes about my Cobra.

This is why you don't drink and fly...

The police should suspend your pilot's license, and insist you goto AA,

I'm happy to see I'm not the only one that charge Pink Floyd and Genesis discographies, clic play and.... fly... No matter what could happens.

Nonsense! Imbibing a fine Chateauneuf-du-Pape in zero-G is quite an accomplishment. It should be encouraged, lest the skill be lost forever!

It's actually Campo Viejo Reserva 2009. Love those Tempranillo grapes! I do like a good-ol' Chateauneuf-Du-Pape, though. That's actually my favorite overall, but I've got 7-8 bottles of Rioja left! I was getting a crate of the Campo Viejo for £35 from Costco [£10/bottle RRP].. Couldn't help but buy a few crates! BARGAIN!

And I've just polished off a nice Montelciego Rioja Gran Reserva 2005 from Morrisons.

Didn't spill a drop. Gotta love gravity ...

RIGHT ON, COMMANDER!

I've created a pressurised delivery system that ejects the wine from the bottle, via my mouth for about 3 seconds; to enjoy the flavour, then blasts it down my gullet for ingestion.

It's particularly popular in Anarchy systems. It also comes in handy in the heat of battle: You don't have time to think, you only have time to drink!

*Goes into marketing*

You are some classy drunk drivers you lot. But then again a commander tried to land on top of my ship today, and I suspect he was sober, so you've got a ways to go.

I'm on stella number 8, the letter box is getting smaller and the landing gear keeps forgetting to retract itself....

... just jumped without any cargo...

I think it'd be funny if cops in ED pulled people over to administer the Sobriety Test.... make Commanders fly straight lines, touch the wing tips etc ... if you fail, your ship gets blown up :D

Well, I've managed to make it from Lave, etc. in my ye-olde Cobra and sail down to Witchhaul. It was a pleasant trip; including those extra couple of wines, but that annoying Python who interdicted me wouldn't stay still. That's what I get for having fixed weapons!

At least I picked up a couple of bounties to cash in on top of my rare goods!

My current fighting & light trading Cobra setup is: C1+C2 Gimballed Beams + C1+C2 Fixed Multi-Cannons. I've got my fire-groups set up in a Port (Beam) & Starboard (MC) fire-group arrangement, although, I think I'm going to change it to Fixed Beams for the C2/Medium hardpoints and Gimballed Multi-Cannons for the C1/Small hardpoints.

The 'small' gimballed beam never seems to hit-target, it takes a while, but the C2 always locks on immediately. The beams do decent damage to both the hull and shield as well. The MCs always do great damage to the hull, regardless - But what's strange is that the C1 & C2 gimballed MCs always hit their mark.. They never waver like the C1 beam lasers.

...

As a drunken side note: I've had to buy a Type-6 again to make up some lost credits from this evening. That setup is... Err.. 96 cargo bays.. And that's it. The station I'm at is very limited in terms of outfitting. When I load up on rares & normal commodities, I may as well just blast myself up with a few lines of ketamine, soar around space in circles, and let the pirates do their thing..

bad day for this... someone boosted into me in the letterbox today and i lost a load of palladium, and my buddy got it TWICE today. watch whats in front of you before cranking the throttle and boost people!

Great, thanks guys for making me feel just wonderful about my alcohol preferences.

I wasn't even boosting - I was just cruising along [around 100-120m/s]. I don't know if he had shields on/off either. The initial 'status' scan must have finished as soon as we collided [it didn't even get as far as Wanted/Clean scan] and I heard, "Target shields offline."

It was like David vs Goliath, I guess, but I'm still unclear as to whether:
1) He had his shields off in the first place and was rocketing into the station, like a madman for no reason - I hope he was a pirate and he got his just deserves!
2) My Cobra simply annihilated his shield and hull - I did buy my ship from Cobra Kai. They know how to outfit these DeLacy beasts with some stellar gear.

STRIKE FIRST.
STRIKE HARD.
NO MERCY!

I totally want the Cobra Kai logo on my Cobra.. Here's hoping they (FDev) implement a decal marketplace, like Forza, where users can upload & share their paint jobs.

Also - I forgot how much of an absolute pleasure the Cobra is to fly, compared to the Asp.
