Hello CMDR A****** - Name has been redacted.
Lets just clear one thing up.. I've had several glasses of wine.. But I have absolutely no idea if that had any involvement in the happenstance of my involvement in our 'incident'.
All I know is that I left the Coriolis, at regular speeds, then I sped up. Suddenly, your Asp filled my sights and... Well.. We collided! Destiny [my high-maintenance ship's computer] said that your shields had gone offline, "Ah, well. No harm done." then noticed your hull go to 0% and heard that unmistakable BOOM!
Err.. Sorry!
I personally thought I was a goner and was ready to finish the rest of my glass of wine.. Whilst rocking out to Collins' drumming on Down And Out, from their hit-album, ".. And Then There Were Three". Are you a fan of Genesis? I particularly like anything post 1975; when Collins' took over the helm. I wasn't a huge fan of Peter Gabriel's artsy-fartsy-type musical direction. Their more modern, commercial (new-wave genre) is more 'my bag'. I mean, the Peter Gabriel years were probably sparking some form of rivalry with Pink Floyd - competing for the top spot in that psychedelic/progressive-rock space - but really, there was zero competition.
Anyways, consolation - I blew up my Asp tonight too. Henceforth, I sold my Asp and went back to an ole-reliable Cobra! And rightly so, since it can survive a head-on collision with an Asp, at great speeds - It is most definitely the ballocks! [I may or may have not upgraded everything to the eye-balls].
Anywhoo Commander, you have my most sincere apologies. I most definitely hope you have enough money for insurance! I don't want to see another, "Boohoo! My Asp is gone, I'm in a Sidewinder. FU FDev!" type threads..
Kind regards,
CMDR Jambo McAllister
NB,
Since I was on the topic of Genesis and I managed to escape our encounter without a scratch.. Here's a Collins' classic:
