So then you will just get the same useless App. The only thing it actually does that could be considered "useful" is it shows your Ranks, Credit Balance, and the station your in. The Market section is useless. The Shipyard is useless and totally out of date. Basically they launched it and that was it.
So if you can convince to actually make it useful by all means.
The web-api has all that information. It just isn't displayed in the iPhone app. The web-api has not been updated for PP, so you will miss that information. A tool which uses the iPhone web-api is EDMarketConnector. It is open source and can be found on github. Its a so called OCR Error Free aka aka mobile api based tools which optionally sends market data and Shipyard info to the EDDN.
The usage of the OEF tools is unclear atm. FD has NOT said NO but NOT said YES either. A good read is the FD thread "
Any news on the official ED API ?". It describes that in January FD asked us for input for an official ED API, that currently the API has been given a low priority. That an author of an OEF tool has asked for some leeway to temporarily use the OEF tools, that Michael Brookes said "
its being discussed". All with quotes from FD and sources. After that (22th of May 2015) we haven't heart anything. Also a good read is
this post and the articles preceding it. A catch-22 scenario fro FD imho. Basically ANY measure they take against the (users of the) tools will cost them time/resources. More time then it would take them to make the tools absolutely obsolete. As in dump market data and other data in a JSON/XML and let the third party tools take care of it (for example sending it to EDDN).
For more information about and an overview of the three OCR error Free (OEF) aka mobile api based tools see
this FD thread. It does NOT contain direct links to be in compliance with the FD rules. Apply google fu.
I REALLY hope we will see an official ED-api soon. It will be give an ENORMOUS boost to the third party tools eco system. Lots of NEW tools can then be created. Tools which can't exist now because we have no data.
