Let me start by saying that I personally am not a fan of the concept I am about to suggest, however I am a big fan of seeing Elite Dangerous grow and succeed in fulfilling my dreams of seeing planetary landings, station walking, walking around my own spaceship travelling through wormholes and maybe even different galaxies at some point.
I have recruited two of my friends into the game who have since stopped playing shortly after and may or (may not) come back. The chief complaint they both had was "there's nothing to do". We all know that this is not the case, but not everyone is willing to push themselves to look for activities to keep them busy.
For this reason, I would really like to see a similar concept to what the Elder Scrolls have implemented with the release of Oblivion and Skyrim, and that is a full sandbox with the presence of a main quest line and several side quest lines. For the lone purpose of keeping new CMDRs interested in the game from the start until they learn to appreciate and enjoy the sandbox. Even if it were just 10-20 hours of content I believe it would be beneficial. I do however think that a hundred plus hours of quest content would prove more effective. Maybe this could be implemented with the XBOX1 release as it would cater more toward that fan base.
As for me... I love my sandbox and am very happy with it, but I want to ensure that it continues to grow for a long time to come.
Thank you for all of your hard work Frontier! You guys are awesome.
