Aquatic DLC has stability issues

I submitted a crash report, but I wanted to make a thread too.

I just recently bought the Aquatic DLC, and now my game is suddenly very unstable. Sometimes it crashes on startup, other times it crashes at the main menu. I had to start the game a total of 5 times before it managed to actually work. Even after doing that, it crashed again as soon as I tried to load a zoo.

Also, as you don't see an overwhelming number of people reporting similar things (specific to what you're describing), it seems isolated rather than a problem with the game.
While it isn't particularly helpful, it is helpful to know there's something about your system that is struggling.

Try changing graphic settings lower.
Do something different - don't jump in a sandbox zoo.
Is it within 30 seconds of loading or when you're specifically loading a sandbox zoo (IE, you can get to the main menu, touch nothing and it won't crash)?

Do you use mods? I read somewhere mods can conflict with new updates and expansions and cause crashes. If so removing Them should fix the problem.

What I've tried so far: Verifying the files, closing all programs (besides steam and the task manager), PC isn't being overclocked, I set priority to highest, which had a small improvement but not much. I don't use mods either.

I've yet to try the other things, but I'll come back later when I do to share if it's helped or not. Until then, I did a few tests earlier today and noted exactly where the game would crash.

  • "powered by cobra"
  • opening video freezes, then crashes

  • open game
  • powered by cobra
  • opening video plays
  • crash on the main menu

  • open game
  • powered by cobra
  • opening video plays
  • main menu loads
  • Start new challenge zoo
  • game loads
  • open zoopedia and the game crashes

  • open game
  • powered by cobra

  • Start new challenge zoo
  • game loads
  • exit to main menu
  • create new sandbox zoo
  • game crashes on the loading screen

(I also want to note again that this is happening specifically after buying the aquatic pack. I never encountered any crashes beforehand)

Weird because you never had crashes before. I suppose your game is also fully updated? Usually expansion packs come with problems which are then fixed in updates. If nothing works you probably best contact frontier.

there are 2 crashing issues confirmed at the moment (issue tracker) and the crash thread on the steam forum has become a lot more active since the last update.

So you are not alone. If anything could help is adding your problems to the existing reported issues. and hope for a hotfix soon
