Aquiring my colony for my power?

I've built a colony in my Power's space, near stronghold systems. I've been shipping lobbying material to the system and selling some commodities both of which are earning me merits and appear to be increasing the control score, slowly.

Is there a more efficient way to do this? The local activities listed are:
  • complete aid and humanitarian missions. I'm not sure which those are, I've done quite a few donation missions and none have given me merits, given the delay in control score I don't know if these give any
  • sell mined resources. Can I mine Platinum in this system and sell it within the system to increase control score? Or do the resources need to be mined elsewhere? Or sold elsewhere?
  • holoscreen hacking. I can hack holoscreens on the 2 coriolis ports in the system, I get a few merits for this but not a huge amount
  • transport powerplay commodities. I'm doing this at around 250/hour; sometimes the source has 500, not sure what dictates that. So far this has been the biggest earner of control score.

Also does the control score decrease on the weekly tick? Will my efforts be for nothing if I don't get to min. control score by Thursday?

For an Acquisition, these are the power reactivation missions at Odyssey bases. So you need to build some of those, and then kick the faction which ends up owning them until they shut down, then take the missions to power them back up again.

[*]sell mined resources. Can I mine Platinum in this system and sell it within the system to increase control score? Or do the resources need to be mined elsewhere? Or sold elsewhere?
For Acquisitions, you need to mine the resources in the existing Power system supporting the Acquisition, then sell them locally.
(Fortified within 20 LY, Stronghold within 30 LY)

Also watch your reputation with the station controlling faction when you do this - you need to be doing something else that tops it up again. It's not a fast method on its own, the advantage is that you can spend a couple of spare limpets on it every time you visit for some mostly-free extra merits.

The allocation is due to your Powerplay rank (and the occasional doubling is because of how it runs the timers for it)

Those four listed activities are the ones your Power gives a 50% bonus for - but there are other activities which count as well and can be effective even without the bonus. See the Pilots' Handbook for more information. The more efficient ones include:
1) You can steal Powerplay goods and data from Odyssey settlements (build some with lots of data ports) and return them to the Power Contact in your supporting Fortified or Stronghold system (who can also give you Power Injection Malware to upload to the data ports)
2) You can bounty hunt (if your system doesn't have anywhere for RES sites, building a Pirate Installation might give you a suitable target-rich environment, and other Installation types can also generate scenarios). Or just lower your system security a bit so you can hunt mission enemies in supercruise.

No, take as long as you like [1]. Progress is banked and doesn't decay. Doing an entire Acquisition single-handed in a single week isn't technically impossible but nor is it expected.

[1] Assuming there are no other Powers in range to acquire your system. If there are you also need to outpace them, though it's still likely to be a multi-week battle.

Thanks for the detailed responses, will give mining a try. When you say "the existing Power system supporting the Acquisition" how do I identify that system? When I look at the strategic view for my colony, I see several solid green lines to other stronghold and fortified systems (depending on my view angle), can I mine in any of those?

I'm splitting my time between this and building a tier 3 ground port...

Yes, depending on the position there might be multiple options. Strategic View is the easiest way to find them all.

My issue is that the closest power to me is a fortified system which is 20.25 ly away... The closest stronghold is nearly 50ly away. The fortified system doesn't give any powerplay commodities for acquisition systems... So unless I can flip the fortified to stronghold my out of luck to turn my system to a powerplay system.

Fortified to Stronghold is ~650k CP, but if you can use the Fortified to Acquire an intermediate system, then reinforce that to Fortified, that's only 450k CP. So unless the Fortified is >1/3 of the way up the bar to Stronghold already, that might be the quicker option.

EDIT: corrected "merits" to "CP"

Which explains why the numbers don't when Mi working the system... I just checked, somebody is working Pardis very hard, it's very close to stronghold.

So let me ask this. how do I know if I'm making a difference? If I receive 500 merits for something, how much did I earn the system?

Most things: 125 (merits / 4)
Exploration data: 83 (merits / 6)
Completing personal weekly tasks: 0 (but the things you do towards them count as normal)

I've edited my previous post as I'd accidentally written "merits" when I meant "CP" (control points)

Okay. Thanks, I am actually working at getting the closest fortified system to stronghold as it is very close, like over 3/4 of the way there. That would be the best solution.

Yeah. I thought about giving a shout out to the other Arissa supporters, to see if they could help me expand into my system lol. I believe the next closest fortification system is a couple systems over, so it would take at least 2 or 3 cycles. I need to build more ground stations though. I only have a refinery settlement, extraction hub, agriculture settlement and entertainment settlement.
