Archon Delaine RP Questions

Hey all,

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the powerplay expansion. I took a break for a while and am just coming back. I was previously working for alliance but the faction power seems trading based and so I decided to go for a switch. I dabbled in privateering so I thought I'd try straight pirate and see how it goes. So...

How does the interplay with the minor factions in delaine space work? From a lore perspectice, mainly... In a sand box game like this I personally find it important to give context to my actions to make it more rewarding.

How do the factions regard the delaine declared players in his controlled space? Are the criminal factions rivals or allies? What about a minor corporate faction that controls a sector that is in delaine space?

I guess I don't understand the hierarchy now with powerplay, and clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks

Flying around as an Archon pilot has few benefits over regular play.

For one, most Archon CMDRs will not fire upon one another, so you can feel safe (I think it's not good, because smugglers join Delaine and suddenly become invulnerable), and if enemy CMDRs come looking, fellow Archon CMDRs will usually back you up.

Um... I can't think of any other ways it would benefit you. You don't need to join to take advantage of the changes that occur within his domain, such as black market buffs. Criminal factions still regard you as they always have. You can still accrue bounties and be chased by bounty hunters and police.

Fines and bounties are decreased in controlled systems...just in case you plan to pay them or get shot down at some point ;)
You can enjoy the local black market increased payout while flying among your fellow pirates who should not fire at you.
You will have access to the mighty cytoscrambler which, I hope, should be good stuff since everybody relies on shield booster and cells nowadays.

Ya, I understand most of that. I'm not really looking for ways it benefits me. I'm more trying to understand how I fit in the world as a Delaine pilot, from a lore/RP perspective

Oh I see, well don't you like to idea to work for the official only bad guy of the galaxy, instead of the giant rotten politics? ;-)

Ting be mon, Archon not be wantin much from yuh. Wi look after fi wi own an take no truck from anyone.

Yuh can trade an smuggle, steal and bash - aal gud bandulu. Trade bring Archon more credits dan pirate, so yuh can drop a few mill creds to quickly undermine or secure system. Pirate good for boasts and action an critical fah undermining som rivals, straight up bashing better versus oder rivals.

Some Archon, dey sign up wit more organized mons - dere choice. Not fi mi, mind - mi gat ickle patience wit orders an mons playin big hats. Oder mons meet up, pick a destination an cook up som fun. An som, dey just get on wid business, ready to kick out rivals that come callin. Aal gud

So mon, protect di bredren an sistren. Do wut yuh want to do. Archon bout freedom to choose.

An Rememba: It not be bout what you doing. It aal bout how yuh do it :D

Easy, just be a pirate and shoot everyone not in your faction.
Pirates are not murderers and should not open fire without a valid reason (e.g.: get some cargo dropped).
I am not telling that murderer/psychos roleplay has no right to exist of course, and anyway, no need to be with Archon to play murder...

Is way more funny when you shoot people to put in chat "For the Archon!".

Thanks for roleplaying! I have been shot by so many players without a word... :)
Two days ago I met one of our guys who let me know that he has been murdering in Aisling territory, but left new players (mostly harmless) with 10% hull to give a good impression of us. I'd encourage everybody to do the same, or shoot their drives and let them know how to reboot/repair.

Don't get me wrong but i don't shoot sidewinders, you can call it a weakness, i will call a waste of ammo. Haulers on the other hand are valid targets.

Reach out to CMDR GluttonyFang he/she (sorry I do not really know) will be able to give you some serious insight. and review this thread here,

This post was one of the main reasons I chose (the?) Archon.

I think I have a bit better understand ing on how to find my place in the faction now, thanks.

One other, slightly related, question. How are the hostilities with other factions determined? I noticed I was tagged as hostile flying through the fed president's space (Hutton or whatever his name is.)

What triggers the hostility, exactly. Trying to expand into the same space? Sharing a border? A certain amount of undermining by either faction?

Currently, unfortunately, any ship flying into a faction space, and not belonging to the faction, is tagged as hostile. Even honest traders are hostile.
Fortunately, hostile does not mean wanted, and getting scanned at the station still allow you to land. They should change "Hostile" for something less threatening...but power Play was mainly done to push PvP...

Think the Archon does a very good line in intimidation of local factions; I've had Federal Security show up to protect his Kumo Crew in some systems. They must turn into something like a Vichy regime in places he controls. What's a little more problematic is why President Hudson doesn't turn purple in the face and send in capital ships when this happens; I can buy the conflict with the other factions being "covert" but surely this would mean open war with Federation... or Empire when it happens...

''Growing weary of the constant infighting, Archon oversaw a massive restructuring of his ‘family’. He turned them from a loosely affiliated rag-tag assortment of pirate crews into a single-minded freedom machine whose only desire is to share de luv. Under his leadership, the Kumo Crew has gone from being a feared local drug cartel to one of the most influential criminal syndicates in the galaxy.

The systems he runs still function – in some cases better than before they were taken. The Kumo Crew rule wid luv and are utterly intolerant of those who work against them, but in equal measure have been known to protect and reward those in the systems they have subjugated who have shown loyalty, brutally enforcing their own righteously simple ethos.''
