Are any more battles left?

No, I'm not talking about PvP, the forum, or with bugs in the game, or any of that stuff. I'm talking about the current storyline.

This week it was revealed that the cause of the agricultural blight was a terrorist group engaging in an act of revenge.

Fair enough.

However, it strikes me that whilst this hints at many unresolved issues in the ED galaxy, we are in a state of relative peace and have been for months. Superpowers are cooperating, the Thargoids are being pushed back, or are at least a minimal threat and all the powerplay factions are fairly stable with no real risk to any of the faction leaders.

I'm still having plenty of fun buzzing stations with a hold full of stolen diamonds and this is by no means an 'I'm bored' or 'I quit, everyone can haz my stuffs' thread. I am wondering if this is the point that happens in games where the main quest is complete and a player is now at the point of purely finding their own things to do in an open world game.

Should we as players now be more forthcoming with proposing, for example, a CG to eradicate the production facilities for small seismic charges to make our own stories?

No - people wanted no new content, so it's just bugs for now. You can make your own stories from twigs you find lying around I guess 😝
Well, it's worked before. 😀

Aren't you asking a bit much now? I mean, they gave an update yesterday
Yes, but for me the end of this story being a terrorist organisation caused things, who will now be destroyed feels like we're chipping away at the edge of things. We started the year with the real threat that Thargoids could cause some trouble. The previous II undoubtedly pushed things along, but aside from that one month, there doesn't seem to have been a direction to things since the Thargoids withdrew from the bubble.

yeah, I was kinda hoping that this II would reactivate / move along the invasion in some way, but this is looking unlikely. From the sound of the post yesterday I'm not sure if they're going to put resources into moving the Thargoid story along over the next year at all, we may be left with the Thargoids parked in the Pleiades for a while...

The last ii seemed to be so much more engaging with the megaship attack and moving an engineer and the result being a new mini bubble it seemed there were things to be gained.

To a degree this one started to feel that way i was delivering some grain in the first cg listening to galnet talk about systems falling apart due to famine and thought it was starting to get interesting.

Then the disposal of fertiliser i mean.... many people said it but yeah if youve got loads of the stuff just jettison it into a star of even just space why do you need us? And now theyve found a shady organisation so instead of say strategic strikes against their bases (even using the megaship scenarios) the small terrorist group now has a fleet of system security forces that can go toe to toe in conflict zones?!?!?

I totally get this is elite where story is very much in the background but fdev showed us they could do better in the last one and this feels like they've given up a bit.

Ill wait and see how it plays out though hopefully they turn it around a bit.

I suppose you can't completely discount the possibility that the current ending to the II was a response to what prompted yesterday's post so they can park things for a while. A shame, but I'll still be happy enough playing with the twigs while stuff gets sorted.

I was actually thinking the IIs make sense - first was Guardian, second Thargoid, third Human - so I think it was planned this way all the time.

I also suspect that the Thargoids were planning something for the game's 5th Anniversary in December. But that would probably have been in the December FC update, which is now cancelled... now where did I put my twigs....

And there are also people just wanting the next broken, unfinished feature.

See, I can also post ridiculous claims.

The only battle left cmdr is fdev vs bugs, the cz for that is now called a beta, and we who were waiting for FCs will be mere spectators until Q220. :(

The Thargoid thing has really left me baffled. There was a full-on invasion of the Bubble, yet nobody (as in GalNet, NPCs, station comms) could care less. Later, we apparently repel the invasion, driving the Thargoids back to who knows where, yet no celebrations, parties, confetti... What????

Frontier may be good at creating stellar forges and flight models, but they suck at narrative.

Well, all of that is for the birds now, just bugs, bugs, and more bugs. When the first bug release has "Fixed xbox dropouts when using a 9600 baud modem" at the top of the patch notes then the petition signatories will realise what they have done.
