Are assault bounties ever going to change?

Security Eagle zooms out of left field into your cannon fire. 400cr bounty, everyone starts shooting at you, you have to try and jump out. Security eagle "stops" to scan you, doesn't stop at all, you collide, you get a bounty, everyone starts shooting at you.

This right here is some of the silliest crap in the game. I shouldn't have to fire in bursts in the hopes of avoiding some random NPC which may or may not come out of absolutely nowhere straight into my line of fire. God forbid a cannon shot should miss and hit some moron who's just boosted across the battlefield to catch it.

You can't justify the existence of such a lazy, binary, anti-fun system. It's not as easy as just "learning to aim", because it can happen at any time, completely out of your control, because you can't predict NPCs, and they apparently can't see where they're going. This is even worse with players, who can and will float in front of you purposely trying to get you to hit them while you're aiming at someone else, just so they can attack you without being fined.

Where's the warning? It's that simple. Or better yet, have them get you to retract your hardpoints and pay a fine, or be fired upon. This is very simple. The fact that accidental attacks can result in everyone nearby trying to kill you for a 400cr fine is ludicrous.

Yup very poor mechanics - as a newbie it ALMOST made me stop playing the first time it happened and I got smoked by 4 Security Eagles in my donor Sidey.....happend to me again the other day but I have upgraded to a Cobra III and was able to boost out before they killed me.

A simple fix would be to treat bounties less than 6000cr as a fine. i.e. they don't make you wanted unless you accumulate a bunch of them.

My first day back to ED, so far I've had to high wake 6 (yes six) times after accidentally hitting someone farming Hires.

My reputation with the Feds is maxed. I have a decent naval rank. Untold thousands of pirates have died to my pew pews, I'm practically Batman as far as the Feds are concerned, yet if I scratch the paint of a guy by accident, they reasonably assume I'm trying to murder him and all turn on me.

I'm just used to games that treat factions a bit more sensibly. Like if you shoot someone once or for half a second it can be a mistake, if you're still shooting after 3 seconds that's probably an assault and you should be fair game.

I love the difficulty, challenge and sim-ness of ED don't get me wrong, but the way friendly fire works in the game isn't realistic.

Just happened to me in a more extreme case... clean NPC flies infront of my beamlaser, does 1% hull damage, he then is later killed by a Pirate conda and I get charged with the murder.. 6000cr and a week exile from the system.

The 300 credit county isn't so bad, you fly away wait 10 minutes, make a cup of coffee and then fly back in. Getting a 6 day exile without the option to pay the bounty right away and continue your work is soooo crappy.

The solutions are really quite simple, have a minimum amount of damage you need to deal to craft for it to be calculated into the kill... so 5 or 10% of total hull%. and for the assault bounty charge the 300cr but make it so 5-10% hull damage has to be caused for them to become hostile.

This is a simple mechanic change which will make a huge difference to all players frustrations. It is in no way a realistic representation in a simulation sense or is it fun to play in a purely gaming sense.
