Are explorers paranoid about the next update?

I'm fixing to go back out into the void again. I've got a route planned, and everything. But there's no way I'm going anywhere until 2.2 drops. Not necessarily because I'm wanting to see how passengers, fighters etc plays out, but because I've been around long enough to remember the mess FD made of explorers during a couple of previous updates. People losing planets, planets disappearing from the system map and refusing to reappear, and uncertainty over whether or not players would still be credited with first discoveries made before, during or after the update landed. I'm aiming to have zero exploration data on board on update day. Yes, I know, update 2.1 landed without a hitch, but both 1.4 and 1.5/2.0 had exploration glitches, if i recall correctly.

So, how about everyone else? Is anyone out there in the black rushing like mad to get back to a port - any port - to cash in their data before the update? And given FD's patchy track record on the issue, should people be more worried than they are?

I've been in the black since 1.3.

I might get back before there's a 3.x but I'm not banking on it. I'll definitely beat 4.x. Probably.

I'm not that fussed if I miss some tags or credits, I'm enjoying my journey. I'll only be annoyed if Thargoids appear and make explorers need to fight aliens every four or five jumps.

I was. I made a beeline for the nearest space station to Beagle Point a few weeks ago - which just happened to be Jaques Station. Found some gems on the way there including a binary Herbig Ae/Be, so it wasn't all wasted. Made 65m from that outing too.

And now the bubble is within reach. Getting home may be better now. Although I'm drawn to the quieter life in the sticks all of a sudden...

Nope. Can't say I am B)

What iain666 Said. I've been in the black since Nov 22 I don't even know what update that was.
I'll be a bit disappointed if i lost tags, but It's been more about the Journey for me.
May plan is to come back next may. That will put me at 18 months.
The only thing that will make me come back sooner is damage (doing well there) or Aliens shooting at me.

Hanging out in the Bubble until after 2.2 drops myself. Not out of any concern about the update, but rather I hear there are some new engineers coming with some exploration friendly upgrades. So I want to take advantage before I head out again.

Hanging out in the bubble, too, after crashing on a planet XD

Anyways, I figured since I'm back I might as well get myself a fighter bay, probably going to go with a X-Keelback. Fighters will be great for zooming around canyons or ringed planets, also for ship selfies from further away then the current camera allows :)

Been out since 14 Jan...no plans to turn back yet. Played around in the Bubble in Beta...hmmm. I rather think I prefer it out here.

Thinking of tracking down to Jacques and across to the Borderlands...just as soon as I finish with my crossing of the Abyss. I left BP2 on 1 July and here I am in October still nowhere near getting across. Loving the emptiness though. I had toyed with the idea of making DW-WP24 but that looks unlikely now.

As Cmdr Osser has said, damage will be the only thing that hastens my return.

Current stats are:

Hull: 86%
PP: 89%
Modules: 100%
AFMUs: a bit of wear!
Paintwork: damaged

EDIT: Sorry, did not answer the question. Nope, not worried about any updates. I am too far gone (and have gone too far) to feel anxious now.

Flying happy

Paranoid? Me? Whatever gave you that idea?

You don't have to be paranoid to know that they are out there, waiting to get you...

I'll probably stay around for 2.2 dropping but I have itchy feet again and I am probably going to do a run to Jacques and all points and spend at least six months away. That will take me into season 3 and potential alien threats (aliens yet to be really confirmed).

I'm not that worried I will be operating out of Jacques for a few months.

[Edit]In fact, if aliens do become a thing, I will be out there exploring and looking for them....[/Edit]

Not really. I am hoping to get to a station to sell my latest batch of exploration data - I'm expecting there to be some sketchiness for a few days after it drops - but otherwise I'm eagerly awaiting it. I can't wait to try basking in the beam of a neutron star.

Nah, I'm looking very forward to 2.2, lots of great stuff coming with it. But I'm not out exploring right now, I've spent the last few weeks in the bubble doing bubble stuff. Things like ranking up trading a bit, running missions for fun, working my way up in credits to buy my first Anaconda, I unlocked a few more engineers, I modded a few more of my ship's FSD drives, etc. It's been a nice change of pace, but I'm getting antsy to get back out into the deep of space. I'm waiting until after 2.2 to do that though, I want to play around a bit doing passenger missions first to check them out, then I'll goof around with fighters for a bit, but after that I'm off for Colonia yet again to continue exploring the surrounding area out there.

I lived through the pain too CMDR - in fact I stayed parked up in deep space for 5 days until I was confident that FD had sorted out THAT issue. Then re-traced 750LYs of systems that I'd somehow 'Unvisited'.

Since then, like yourself, Iv always stayed close when it's major update time. Currently around the Colonia region - waiting for 2.2 to drop!
