Are Fleet Carriers any good?

I keep trying to find a use for Fleet Carriers, I've tried them 6 times, after a few days I tend to sell it and its usually because of the 15 minute launch count down, I only want to jump 2 or 3 systems at a time but I still have to wait for 15 minutes, I can get there in my engineered Cutter faster. So I really can't find a use for these carriers, unless I want to park it up in an important location and block other players. I've tried to earn credits with my Fleet Carrier, but the amounts are minimal. Can anyone suggest a really good use for the Fleet Carrier that would warrant buying and keeping one?

a quick trip to HUTTON ORBITAL;)mobil storage locker, if you have billions creds and all the modded ships you want nothing left to spend it on so why not...……….
but one could still ague why?

I'd sort out your poor impulse control first if I were you.

Stop buying the shiny shiny until you know what you need/want it for.

I'm hosting my CMDR's on my FC which is my primary purpose. Occasionally making credits by diverting transport mission goods to my black market and then resell it.

I found it opened up Exploration for me in a way that I hadn’t found before. Most explorers seem to enjoy the restrictions of fitting out one ship and making it work for all situations.

I found that having ships like a heavily armoured Cobra with two SRV bays for planetary visits (particularly useful on high G planets,) a stripped down Anaconda for those times when I’d forgotten something and needed to nip back to the shops and dedicated mining ships gave me much more to do than just jump, honk scan and move on. I’d explore in depth towards where I was going to send my Carrier, tending to pull it along behind in case I found something or somewhere interesting rather than having to jump it backwards.

Beyond that, its just a handy place to store all of my ships and have the ability to move them all, plus various stored modules, to any location at the same time. They’re certainly not a necessity, often a nuisance (maybe not for the owner so much as everyone else ) and not quite what many hoped for…but I’m still happy to have mine.
