Are indestructable Space Stations realistic?

Allowing players to be capable of rendering a station inaccessible (from the OP) would allow players to deny others access - not quite as dramatic as destroying the station - but denial of access all the same.

If mines ever appear in the game, you can bet someone will start dropping them right outside the station.

<sighs> Yeah, I suppose there is that.

If FD wanted to make the game play even more fun there is a way around griefers. Every station could have automated defense turrets and gazillion of HP as well as reinforcements. So if some fool would decide to grief the Feds would make a cloud of dust very quick out of him. Even if 100 people would all of a sudden decide to destroy the station it would take them many hours to accomplish that even in Anacondas and many many of those anacondas would end up as a cloud of dust in the end.

It would be fun then station would have to close for repairs and traders would scratch their heads and decide on a different route. It would be fun and realistic, but it's additional programming which FD most likely don't have time and money for to have that kind of scripting for every station considering that every station will be a part of Procedural Generation algorithm.

considering how even the anaconda isnt that Huge comparied to a space station i doubt even with a large fleet they can go boom. plus this would cause issues in stable systems.

however considering there will be "events" where new stations are made perhaps there can be "events" where stations are destroyed i do not know.

but not in "stable systems' of course :p.

With the number of players we've had writing off their Lakons while either entering and exiting a space station, wouldn't it be logical that the station itself would incur a certain of damage that would render it inaccessible while repairs take place? I'd at least expect the toast rack to suffer some damage because it does look so flimsy.

Thoughts anyone?

IT IS A GAME.. let not forget or break that fact!

I think that if every time someone pranged the door of a space station a set of cones was put outside and bored looking workmen trying to drink tea in a space suit we could all end up rather frustrated.

"Typical Port Zelada Council - they only finished digging up Pad 12 for sewerage pipes last week, and now they are back doing it again for power lines!"

The stations are as close to being completely indestructible as possible.

each station is made of billions of cockroach legs, stuck together with the mixture you get at the bottom of your cornflake bowl once it has been sitting there for 24 hours.

....impossible to kill, impossible to pull apart.

Cannot be destroyed by conventional weapons....
