are kill smuggler missions bugged again ?

spent 2.5 hrs at the right nav beacon, killing all the wanted type 6/ 7/ cobras etc of the designated faction, but not a single kill credited to the mission ?

what am i doing wrong please ?

some have shown up as mission targets in USS but when I drop in and destroy, I still don't get credited the kill just wanted...
very frustrating and I'll fail the mission

If you kill an innocent (Clean) or fail to complete a scan on a Wanted ship before shooting you will become wanted.

Did two navy strike smuggler missions for ranks, both times only found them in SC in the target system. Get an interdictor, it'll be faster then trying to find them in locations.

Yep a 3A or 4A interdictor is fine.

And while you are at it, you are Wanted you might as well blow out their cargo hatches and pinch their goodies and flog em off on the black market

Last we did it, the smugglers were all wanted strangely enough. And before that I took care to have the mission take place in an Anarchy. Guess your mileage may vary with it.
