Are Massacre Missions still broken?

I took a mission to massacre Bhutas Hunters Military Personnel in Sun Pi. I checked EDDB and found that they controlled the Salinas Research Site in Sun Pi so I made my way there, confirmed they were Bhutas Hunters faction, and just started killing anything that moved. I didn't expect to get progress for the scientists and other workers but I did assume that the security would be classed as military personnel, but after killing at least 8 of them (it got pretty intense at times so I lost count but it was more than 8) I still have zero confirmed kills.

Either I'm clearly missing something fundamental or these missions are still broken. Can anyone offer any constructive advice?

I think if I'd taken a mission to kill military personnel my first stop would have been a military settlement. EDDB doesn't list one of those under Bhutas Hunters control, but EDDB only knows about settlements where (some) CMDRs have docked. So it might take some recon to find their military settlement, assuming that they have one there.

Good call, but I don't see any military bases controlled by that faction in Sun Pi. The mission marker took me to Sun Pi so I'm not sure that killing military personnel in, say, Bhutas will give me confirmed kills either but I'll give it a go.

I'd take a closer look at Sun Pi's unlisted settlements (if they exist) before I tried going to another system, which I don't think would work.

I kind of like the idea behind these missions but have to say they're an ill-executed throwback from the base game's poorly designed kill count missions and I think they should probably just die in a fire. EDO's new mission templates that give you a target and lay out the full quota of that target for you to fulfil in one sitting are much more fun. In fact, I think Fdev should rewrite all the ship missions so that they work in the same way, sending you to a specific location wherein lies all of the targets you need to fulfill the contract.

This new way of handling missions is one of EDO's best enhancements (sorry, danteuk, I can't just be negative for this post, I do hope you can forgive me - someone please quote me so danteuk can see my apology, it'll mean a lot to him).

I did this and found Deshmukh Military Installation. I disabled all alarms, killed everybody there, then stole their power regulator, was attacked by a Goliath so ran into the wilderness, tried to recall my ship but it came under attack so dismissed it again (it survived), was briefly amused that the Goliath was now attacking the Feds ships who for some reason were now flying around the settlement, called a taxi who came under fire by the Goliath and the Feds and blown to pieces (poor guy, he was innocent in all of this) and eventually gave up and allowed myself to be killed and I still have zero confirmed kills.

I'm not sure what else I can do.

Sorry, I should have added: this mission type in general is bugged. You just cannot rely on the BGS to provide these missions to suitable locations. For me, the answer was "just don't take these missions"

Yeah, I was there too, but they were offering Patrol Routes and I want my upgrades :)

Yeh, I see a nice reward and then see it's one of these missions and go "oh well".

I think the thing I'm saying is, you can't get those patrol routes. I just don't think these missions work at all. But you can keep trying and if you manage to get it to work let us know. I think you'd be the first to report as such :D

I'll give it another go tomorrow evening, I'm away for the weekend. I'll choose another location though because Bhutas Hunters now shoot on sight. Nobody was ever this upset with me before Odyssey.

Did you have any luck with this? I have one and can't seem to get any kills that count towards it, despite raiding 2 military bases controlled by the target faction.

I think that when you posted this they were still broken.

I can confirm that post-patch they are still broken.

I took a mission to kill Camorra of LAWD 96 members in LAWD 96, target type: Faction Members. The faction is in control of one settlement in that system, Pomeroy Biochemical Enterprise, and when I arrived all the lights were off and the buildings were burning so nothing to kill.

After today's patch which seems to have removed all but a handful of support missions there are very few, by my count, unbroken mission types left. I may have been very unlucky to find things that were meant to have been patched (target mobs stuck in walls and unkillable, rocks covering target control panels in settlements, no killable targets existing anywhere in the galaxy etc.) but today has just been one failed mission after another interspersed with the odd success.

I must admit, I expected more from today's patch.
