Are Pre-1.3 RES's what CZ's where intended to be?

Like the title says, did FD change RES's to eliminate their profit gain, so more would notice the Conflict Zones?

I know there is a bug with RES's atm, but that is not that is not the point of the thread.

Everyone loved RES's so dearly for what they were, now that they have been ''changed'' and are no longer as viable (Maybe they still will be after the bug fix) are CZ's the only option for the bounty hunters out there? (Aside from Signal sources and nav beacons etc.)

I feel that this whole time FD wanted us to farm using CZ's as suppose to RES's, but RES's were arguably better. So now that has changed, CZ's seem to be a way better option for any ''Ex RES Hunter'' out there.

What is your guys's take on this?

I think we see after they fix at least the rank scaling bug and when we see other than Mostly Harmless ships.

Like Michael Brookes said:
"It's fair to say that the resource extraction sites aren't working as expected at the moment."
"At the moment it seems that these are sometimes working and sometimes not so we're investigating why this is the case."

This is not fixed yet?

It seems that the old RES duck hunt experience is exclusively for CZs now. I don't mind this. Resource extraction sites are now more for resource extraction. Conflict zones are now more for conflicts. Mind blown.

not for me i'm afraid to say, all RES, CZHI, Navs all seem to spawn only 99% Mostly Harmless for me. The highest rank wanted, I've seen in any, was novice! and that was only the one!
I've killed god knows how may wanted, collected millions in bounties, mission rewards and combat bonds over the weekend, and my rank progress hasn't moved even 1%!
well, at least i'm still making credits I suppose.

Then stop calling high intensity RES high intensity, because there's nothing intense about it and give us tools to easily find conflict zones.

When you said RES were 'better' did you mean 'easier'?
i rhink he meant actually profitable because ships that were worth killing like anacondas actually would spawn there which they dont anymore and if they do its INSANELY rare just killing cobras vipers and the now rare dropship or clipper really gets you no money

Other than one Elite Cobra in a RES, I've seen nothing but Harmless to Novice ships in a week. Every CZ i've visited is the same BUT the ships behave like much higher rated ships. I had a Mostly Harmless Cobra engage me (bear in mind I've taken out several such in 1.3 RES out of boredom) and it was as tricky and armoured as a top end 1.3 Elite status ship or more. I think it's the labels that are wrong and not the ratings. I think that there IS the full range of ships in a CZ but they are mislabeled as Harmless to Novice.

that might well be true, I had a novice anaconda hand me a whooping on an assassination mission, had to run away, repair and return twice, got him on the third try! I've had elite ones put up less of a fight and soak up less damage before!
however, the real problem is that they are still only counting as MH with regard to the combat ranking! sort of defeats one the intrinsic points of the whole game really, i.e. "become one of the Elite" I hope they get it sorted early next week.

I didn't. You could make good money if you got a good stream of the 100-250K bounties, but you'd end up having to re-log a lot, and also spend a lot of time flying around waiting.

CZ's seem to be a way better option for any ''Ex RES Hunter'' out there.

CZs are way, way better - bonds are double, and you can take well-paying missions (often for both sides:D) to combine with them.

But that's only for making money. The endless stream of 'mostly harmless' ships (that are as well-equipped and well-piloted as the elite ones) does nothing to help with getting your combat rating up, and now a higher rating means better paid missions, that matters.

You can re-roll CZs by logging out & in though. Don't pick a side 'til you have checked out the ratings of nearby ships, saves the 15 second delay.

What I reckon should happen is that low intensity zones have smaller, lower rated ships, and high intensity ones bigger and nastier ones, but pay a bit more.

Also, combat zones in asteroid fields/rings. Make that a thing! Lots of rocks gives fast nimble ships a fun advantage.
