Newcomer / Intro Are rares useless???

I decided to try selling rares, but no matter how far I travel, I still can only sell them at a loss or small profit? Are they tempered with?

They shouldn't be.

I did part of one of the rares circuits a week ago, admittedly I messed up one of the selling locations but generally I was making about 10k/tonne profit.

Which ones are you using?

No, ideally you need to sell them once you've travelled 130-160 LY from where you bought them. Eg:

Here's one possible profitable rares circular route (although the amount of tonnage you can now pick up may have decreased somewhat depending on the STATE of the system):

Log out and back in. I had issue last week, when prices weren't updating instantly. After relog, all was fine.

As has been said, the profit is maximised between 130 - 160 LY (the graph from Boombastic's post shows it well).

I originally did a rare-goods trading route in my Asp and made enough for a decent python quite quickly. The only trading that paid out higher for me was a one-jump route hauling imps out and cons goods back, well over 3K/t. (All that pre-Horizons though.)

I've made millions trading rare goods in a Cobra Mk. III. When moving along on my favorite route I can average 600K credits per hour hauling 36 tons full.

I've done so well with it, I'm gonna buy a T-6 with my CG loot and see how well it does on that route.

The only time I've ever lost money on rares was with 3 T of leathery eggs from Ridley Scott in Zaonce. I paid 24K each, and even 170 ly away I could only get 19K for them. I don't go to Zaonce any more.

That was it.... I logged off and on again and now everything at ZAONCE is sellable....

Are you running any other applications over ED? There have been some issues reported where 3rd party products cause rare goods to display incorrectly.

It's a good idea to kill other applications you're not using anyway, such as other game clients. I had Steam minimize ED on me once when it downloaded and wanted to install an update.

well, it happened again today and i do use ED Market Connector... maybe that is it??

Just checked it with ED Market Connector off and all was still haywired. So rares are worthless to me now... Well, i will try again tomorrow and post bug report
