Are servers Region based?

Peer To Peer like CoD

I think servers also have something to do with it but if you can't connect it is probably because of NAT problems and the likes, altough there are plenty of other problems when trying to connect to others that aren't caused by NAT

What Error said, plus I've seen other posts on here about US & Australia players having problems playing together.

If you want to see other players you are best to head out to one of the Community Goal locations, you will normally find a bunch of people there......of course some of those people may decide to blow you up or steal your cargo.....them's the risks!

Hi there MrWhippy, Yeah I'am Aus and the friends i have from the US that i winged up with prior to full release, we had no problems. The moment full release came out we either could wing up but not see one another or we couldn't wing up and still not see one another anyway.

As far as known hot spots go im aware the starting area and surrounding systems are busy and have had no luck barley see anyone mabey one If im lucky, but it's the same outside of there eg. Sothis, Orang, Lusonda, Kaushpoos ect. Read the traffic reports and they say thousands of cmdr's flying in and out but don't see any of them. NAT is open and always has been, so wouldn't think thats the problem.

Would any of you guys know if this is a common enough problem that it will be fixed in a future update?

Cheers

If you're consistently having a problem you might as well log a support ticket and see what they say, nothing to lose.

I've actually had an issue where I was trying to wing up with two other UK based friends (I'm US). The other two are winged up. We go to an empty system to try and link up. After the wing invite finally goes through, I can see friend 1 but not friend 2. Friend 2 can see friend 1 but not me, even though we're in the same system in the same wing. After a minute or so friend 2 pops up on my sensors. It was like we were using friend 1 to bridge a multi-verse or something.

I've winged up with a friend from Scotland on a couple occasions. No problems that I've seen. You will never see more than 16 players at any one time. Each instance of ED is limited to that number of CMDRs.

Edit: Forgot to mention I'm in the US.

I know you say your NAT is open but just check something for me if you haven't done this already.
On your XB1 do a multiplayer connection test. On the test passed screen, press LT, RT, LB & RB together to access the super secret detailed NAT info screen.
Wait for the results to appear and if it tells you you're behind a cone NAT then your network is fine and the problem isn't at your end.

Ignore all this if you already knew about it, obviously

I have had issues like others have mentioned winging up with a friend from the UK (I am in the US). We ended up in the same instance finally after several tries relogging.
