Are the ships interiors modeled?

I would like to directly answer to this, but what is the point? If I show you the proper links you will just ignore them. With you things normally go like this: you tell me I am wrong or that my argument was incoherent, and when I offer a clarification, you disappear from the conversation (only to insist that my point is idiotic in another thread, and repeat the cycle).

sorry for you, but he is right.
I challenge you to find any video or interview during kickstarter in wich they say legs are imminent or even make it seems to be imminent.
I assure you I will not disappear from the conversation.
I am waiting patiently.

I just graduated from university studying a degree in computer games, so I can answer this with a fair degree of confidence.

The only things that are modelled are the things you can see. If you are in 1st person, only the bridge is modelled (and perhaps a low quality exterior if you are able to see parts from the pilot's seat). If you are in third person, only the exterior is modelled with detail and the bridge is replaced with a much lower quality version of itself to save on rendering time.

3D models are made with maximum efficiency in mind. If things are too far away, or things will not be given a lot of attention by the player, or they are just very small, textures and poly counts are reduced.

That all being said, the models are made in such a way that they are easily adaptable for future evolution. The ships for example all had a hatch available for an SRV, well before Horizons was even announced. Hardpoint mounts have standard sizes that weapon meshes have to adhere by, ensuring that anything the devs come up with in the future will be compatible.

I'm not sure you understand...

1. The question is if fdev has the models of the ship interiors and not if they are loaded into the memory when you are in the interior or exterior (or any other) view.
2. The SRV ramp is the same hatch as the cargo hatch, that was always functional...

thread-flash:

777Driver already confirmed that in the actual game the interior has no model or textures (except the cockpit). he could get a look with VR.

FD said somewhere, that the ships interiors are "mapped", meaning the rough layout of the ships is sketched. so if a concrete modelling later takes place there will be no big problems like it's impossible in a t9 to fit cargo racks a hangar and still reach the personnel-hatch.

edit: oh and FD: may we see those sketches??? pretty please, just for immersion purposes :)
