Are their Mission Alternatives to Colonization Hauling Yet, or Should I go back to my Cryo Pod?

That's my system. The High Tech mini station wasn't bad. The installations weren't bad. The asteroid base was pure vacuum though. I had plans to work on security stations next, but it just isn't fun. I like the other aspects of Elite, so I guess I'll just leave this orphan the way it is until there are alternatives for bringing in mats. I'd kill thousands of pirates in extraction zones, fight in CZs, murder goids, do surface assassinations and surface pirate purges ad infinitum to get things built, but hauling - naaaaah - not for me. Back to the pod for now I guess.

I am going no where near Colonia ever. This is just to scary.
What? Dorn is a perfectly legitimate, not at all shady operator of a humanitarian aid association… that nobody knows about but I’m sure it’s fine

On the other subject of colonization hauling… yes, alternatives would be very welcome. Instead of me having to haul a billion tons to make a highly developed system with two or something to that end T3 ports.

You can pay other players to get things done ... it however is quite costly service.
That’s a really good idea. This game desperately needs “credit sinks” - things to spend your billions on. A rich player ought to be able to offer a contract to a poorer player to deliver materials.

Then OP could do the activities he likes to do, and players that want to haul could haul.

We’d need FDev to facilitate this though, and otherwise there’s no way to prove that a particular player delivered anything, and no way to pay them.

OP could park his carrier in his system and advertise on the forums an attractive price for the commodities he wants, but that’d only get him halfway. He’d still have to haul them from carrier to construction site, and he’s burned out on that.

Man, if only the Engineers understood how economics work instead of us having to dig up little pieces of scrap for them. You can buy sheets of stuff like Niobium from lab suppliers already, some of the stuff we give them is literally waste runoff products from industrial manufacturing that those economies would be dieing to profit off of.

Everyone keeps shouting credit sink but you bring up engineering there's a billion excuses for why not to do it like you can't make millions an hour by sneezing in the wrong direction.

Just a Cryopod automated environmental check. Are there any mechanics to get construction resources to a colony other than hauling yet?

no, and according to FDev's statement "Colonisation is feature complete", there won't be. There's so much more to do in Elite than colonising, no need to stay in the pod.

No it is still in Beta though.

But the Squadron update aka Vanguard is introducing a larger capacity carrier so squadrons can build colonies together.
