Are there any plans to BookMark Latitude/Longitude via Planet view in System Map?

There are so many times cmdrs post specific Lat/Long on a planet as a POI. Its sometimes very frustrating to use the Lat/Long tracker in the HUD to get to the desired coordinates. Is there any plan by FD to make this easier?
I would guess the most useful and logical way would be to bring up the lat/long on the planet surface holo in Systems Map once scanned obiously and mark a bookmark or POI so one could aim directly at that rather than go around in circles in Orbital cruise reorienting ship dozens of times in order to approximate the location.

Sandro's last comment about it was that it would 'need content to support it' before they would have reason to spend the time on it. So yeah, all that content in the game that you imagine it would be useful for now is just a figment of your imagination... :D

When was that? Im sure many cmdrs would find this feature useful

I want to say it was during the 2.2 Q&A live streams when someone asked about it. It's not an exact quote though, but the gist of it that I got at the time.

well they have the content now. I cringe whenever I have to go coordinate hunting as am sure a lot of other cmdrs. the whole process is just too clunky.
Aim for the planet>figure out where you are once you hit atmo> turn turn turn until you get approximate lat/long>Glide and pray you don't over shoot>boost boost till you get back to approximate location!

Messy and somewhat of a deterrent (for many - maybe not all - some hardcore Cmdrs probably love the current "mechanic", for those - go ahead and give an option to turn it "off" ).

I feel that trying to fly to coordinates on a planet surface is the worst thing I ever have to try to do in this game. It's worse than any material or commodity grind in my opinion. I guess my rationale is that if I don't know where something is, flying or driving around or random missions to find it may sort of be expected, but if you have coordinates for something, we should darn well be able to pretty much fly / drive straight there. Trying to hunt and peck for the coordinates in orbital cruise and then having to boost for 100s or even 1000s of kilometers when you can't quite get your nose in the right place is maddening.

You can use the Docking Computer to manually input the coords and it flies and optionally lands there by itself....

... NOT.

Sorry, for the late edit. I think it was during the 2.2 beta Q&As. It's probably been discussed before and after that as well, but not that I remember offhand.

Would really like that.

- running Coordinate Display (Mouseover) when panning around any Planet
- at least temporary Waypoint setting (Mouseclick in Planetary Map or manually entered Coordinate)

So far we got the Planetary Map but literally have like zero means to navigate it.
Currently doing more searches for Volcanism on Planets and the lack of Navigational Aids is very very painful.

I wouldn't mind being able to set a bookmark once you are there for the first time and landed.
Clearly this means it's the same tough way as now the first time you go or for a one off, but for repeat visit locations it would be good.
And the bookmarks would be separate from the current system, or at least not use up any of their allocation.
.

Back in the day before computers humans would mark a point on a paper map and navigate to it, it also served as a bookmark to make it easy to find again.

I hope they add it eventually. I don't like having to take my headset off every few minutes to check the coords I jotted down on my phone.

Of course, before they can add planetary bookmarks, they'll need to expand the amount of bookmarks one can have. I hit my limit months ago and I've deleted all I can do without. 400 Billion stars and quadrillions of planets and moons and they give us less than 200 bookmarks. What, is my ship's hard drive from 1998?

This would be SOOOO incredibly useful, I'd like use it almost daily. I'd seriously rather have this than multicrew!!!!!

I am having a really hard time coordinating around planets to find Point Of Interests, I came about this post saying there was this initiative to implement the option to coordinate using the system map. As spoken about in this thread men would pinpoint their coordinates on a map than rather 'in-voyage'. This last situation is the current state of Elite Dangerous where players have to navigate 'on-the-go' which is sometimes extremely difficult even with the various tools around the internet to calculate your bearing. I personally would love to see Frontier implement the coordinates in the system map in the short run allowing less skilled players and players who's knowledge base (as to the forums) is limited during various circumstances, to be able to easily locate certain coordinates using the system map.

I think this is really a big change in how players can explore the various POI as the thargoid ruins and various explored 'lore/ story' locations.

And if they displayed those coordinates when viewing a planets surface in the system charts we could continue to do so. I have sextant here somewhere....
