General Are there any plans to create RAIDS on Odyssey?

I feel that every mission in Elite Dangerous is equivalent to the "side missions" in other games.

There are no missions with depth and progressive difficulty.

I expected dungeouns with RAIDs in the underground of Guardian and Thargoid sites.

But it doesn't necessarily need to involve aliens...

As long as it's fun, engaging and challenging to do with friends (and with a GOOD reward at the end).

Are there any plans for this type of content?

I honestly think this content is basic for FPS/coop games...

I'm not comfortable coming here to say the obvious.

Another ideas:

  • Invasion/defense of mega ships
  • Capital ship boarding
  • Ship wreck with interior and traps

Raid content is very much needed for odyssey and imo there is a huge potential for it in elite. Imo I doubt we will see much content in that sphere until the console release and I’m ok with that.

With that said I’d really like to see things like prominent factions owning super facilities that dwarf anything we’ve seen yet; perhaps with subterranean components like the umbrella Corp facility that is unassuming on the surface but huge underground. The potential for what you could find inside is endless.

either way though now that I have my first full g5 maverick and g5 eclipse and p-15 all fully modded I sweep even the biggest most well armed settlements as if they are nothing. Before I had the gear and was running a full g1 setup of the same loadout I could still clear the facilities but had to take my time. With friends the simplicity of taking out an entire facilty, cz etc is so easy my friends and I are often wishing for raid style content; and I’ve been teaming in odyssey a lot.

That would be an awesome idea for the future.

I have to agree. I think a lot of people since Elites beginning have just regarded this as a game that is in development. Therefore the grindy gameplay was tolerated because the elements of story and missions that send you on a long story arc that makes you feel immersed was being built.

I feel like everyone felt odyssey wouldn’t be just another addition to the game that would add yet another layer of grinding on foot. But would finally close out the games development. The thing is we’ve done our grinding down and made our flour. Now we would like to mix the ingredients of that grind and bake some bread.

Frontier is really great at visuals, sounds, and science. They really do shine here! But making a game with story lines across hundreds of Star systems is something that seems really far outside their scope of expertise. To have Elite have the lore of say mass effect 1 or Kotor. That would be neat.

That used to be true. Now we have mediocre graphics that runs poorly and 'low gravity' that is nothing but a jump booster. FD has clearly had a lot of turnover/outsourcing, EDO wasn't made by the same team and it shows.

Hard as hell, though. Think WoW before they implemented phasing. How can you possibly synchronize the game state between every single commander in a cohesive manner? If things change, they either change for everyone, or nobody. If they change for everyone, the leading edge of players change the world and everyone is along for the ride. If they change for nobody, then nothing ever changes and it's pointless. Currently, we're seeing the latter option. (With BGS tacked on.)

Phasing lets MMOs display, say, a burning city to people on that part of the story line, and a living city to those on THAT part. But ED is very much not set up for that, and would be extremely difficult. Probably impossible, IMO.

Just teleport you and your friends to another (private) instance and don't cause BGS changes. Your group arrives at the door of "Dungeon", marks ready and go. I'm talking about doing something fun. It doesn't need to influence the game world.
