Emerald001, Denuvo is anti-tamper software which typically protects the main game executable from alteration. It's not technically DRM, more an additional layer of protection ensuring users have a valid Steam purchase. Basically it makes games harder to crack.
As to the original question posed by Primitive:
Disclaimer: Moderators are unpaid volunteers from the community, the following is merely my observation of past precedent and my personal opinion of what Frontier is likely to do.
Planet Coaster has been cracked three times to date but it hasn't resulted in the removal of Denuvo, nor have Frontier even addressed it publicly. They've instead continued pushing out updates which makes the cracked version obsolete in time. Revisits from cracking groups tend to be few and far between. Expect the same strategy to be employed here.

Hey I too just saw this game again for $13.74 on Christmas sale, however I am done buying Denuvo products because i've previously purchased at least 4 Denuvo titles on Steam, all of them cause performance issues mainly around Multi-Core / heavy CPU / RAM workloads.
This however isn't a problem for most gamers, but after purchasing Monster Hunter World for $70+ on Steam I only played it for (4 Hours) before I uninstalled the game due to the heavy performance impact, FPS caps, and performance issues across all running tasks caused by Denuvo due to things like Anti-Tamper checks.
I also purchased "Battlefield 1" And alone just running that game I hit "144 FPS" however running under load my fps drops from 80-100, which shouldn't happen and doesn't happen across other games under load of other tasks.
The Common factor between these two games, plus the other two I have to find the names again but didn't play them much is
Denuvo, All other games that do not use Denuvo do not cause issues.
Most Gamers however just run a single game so they do not notice or care about the problems that arrise as long as they can play the game.
However some of us who run i7, i9, and even Threadrippers with 32 Cores 64 Threads, should not be limited by "Denuvo" because it uses unnecessary resources that are otherwise not needed.
If you go to Google, and look up Denuvo you will find things such as.
- Games that have been cracked 3 days prior to release
- Performance impact due to Anti-Tamper checks
- If the games developers, or publisher goes out of business (And Denuvo servers go down) customers can lose their games.
I know discussing priacy is likely against the rules, but without going into details you are indeed correct that "Jurassic World" or other games can release updates which pirated copy's do not have. However pirates really don't care about updates, or DLC, because the game is free anyways, and they can always just download another copy that contains the updates later
Yes I get it you want to protect your protect your game from piracy, however is a small group of pirates really worth causing issues to the paying customers who actually buy, and legally support a game?

^ I don't support piracy, nor do I ask for free games, but when it comes down to it I would love to hear from developers why
Denuvo is causing performance impacts especially those running multi-core / threaded systems who choose to load up quite a lot on their PC, Denuvo should not be a limiting factor, and due to it's encryption methods, and Anti-Tamper checks a game has to use Extra resources to run the game which would otherwise not be needed if Denuvo was not being used in the game aka a game that should only take 1GB of RAM may end up taking up more ram, taking more CPU time / Cycles to run the game when these resources for a multi-core PC could be used running 2-3 other games in the background while playting the Denuvo product which would otherwise not cause performance impacts.
Don't get me wrong running two games will always have some type of impact on a system, however running a Denuvo product taking more resources than otherwise needed takes resources away from other tasks running to the point where it's a lot worse, but hey then again I guess I am the only one who wants to run
Black Desert, AFK Fishing, play Destiny 2 at the same time, and even for benching purposes put on Warframe, and some older games without going under 100 FPS common factor, None of them used Denuvo.
So yeah please Devs, consider removal of this Denuvo product that does more harm than good in my eyes, and creates more priacy attempts IMO, use the funds that you waste on protection that really doesn't work to make a better game, and believe in consumers to buy the game legally, if the game is good people will buy it, I mean look at The
Witcher 3, and fact that i've spoken to other people who have actually pirated other games and they are like "I enjoyed the game, so I am going to buy a legitimate copy".
I just ask Devs to actually take a look at the harm this DRM does to consumers, and hey perhaps if the next great game "Frontier Developments" makes which doesn't have Denuvo, i'll buy it, but honestly for now my hype is over for this game anyways though if it didn't have Denuvo i'd likely have added it to my collection given it only costs $13.74, or $20 for the deluxe edition, though "Steam" does take 30% of that from the devs );.
