Are there Friendly Thargoids?

We know there's a peaceful Thargoid race called the Oresrians.

So can we interact with them in a peaceful way? Such as trade would be cool.

Aliens in movies are usually hostile which is kind of lame. More options adds depth to the sandbox and makes it more interesting.

The space strategy game Homeworld 2 has the Bentusi which is a species of space-faring technology traders. They arrive in this video at 1:00. It's an epic scene with great music.

First we need to establish a line of communication. And we need to find a way to distinguish the hostile from the peaceful ones. Then we might try to do some trade, if there is anything they would want from us to begin with.

At the moment we don't know if FD have anything like that planned. Also I'm not sure I'd call them friendly. My understanding is that the situation is somewhat analogous to meeting someone in a bar, them pointing to another person and asking you to fight them while they escape out of the back door. For reasons that no one has explained to me (maybe it's in the books?), the great and the good of humanity have said 'okay' and commited humanity into a fight for no apparent reward.

I'll at least try to communicate with the Thargoids - i.e. not firing the first shot. Even if this means my ship might get blown to bits.

I dont really think the thargoids think of us as significant enough to really consider them friendly or hostile.
I think its more a case of, some thargoids dont really consider us at all, and some others like to break out the space equivalent of DDT and destroy our homes before we start moving into their herb garden.

That said, I'm one pilot who very much hopes there can be some form of communication or peaceful coexistence of some kind or another.

I for one salute our new insect overlords and will help to round up fellow humans to toil in their underground sugar caves.

I dont believe we have seen the real naughty Thargoids that we previously encountered as described in the lore thread.

Real Thargoids kill.... they dont fire an EMP and then fly off leaving you alive..... they blow you up because they can.

What we have met/seen in ED is a almost passive Thargoid.... so that leaves me to believe they are Oresrians.

Oresians are not peacefull, just less hostile.
If the Thargoids we're seeing right now are Oresians then shooting at them is not a good start.
They could have destroyed a lot more ships if they wanted to and even in the latest trailer it's not them who starts the shooting.
I think there's a reason for that and the reason is the Klaxians.
If the Oresians are running from the Klaxians then there might be a possibility for the Oresians to work with us instead of against us.
We'll just have to wait and see how things will unfold.

Thargoids? Oresrians? Klaxians? Goodies? Baddies?

Here is the applicable lore in the form of a movie analogy.

You know that scene where the goodie is sprinting down a corridor with the baddie hot on their heels? The baddie is closing in and goodie, in a moment of desperation, reaches into a doorway and drags a pile of boxes out across the corridor to trip and delay the baddie.

The goodies here are the Oresrians, the baddies are the Klaxians and us?... We are the pile of boxes.

I have video evidence of friendly Thargoid interaction

|I was playing Elite dangerous today when i captured this video of the thargoids doing what seems to be a friendly interaction with me. Even if this was not a intended interaction by the developers it is still very interesting. [alien]:|[alien]
