Newcomer / Intro Are there other alien species besides Thargoid and Guardian?

Just wondering if exploration is actually going to yield any big discoveries, or if its just pop system to system scanning world after world.. IS there ANYTHING out here?!

If there is, they're hiding in the permit-locked regions. I seriously doubt there's anything new and amazing buried deep in unexplored space that a player would just stumble upon, because chances would be good that no-one would ever, ever stumble upon it, and that would be thousands of programmer-hours wasted for nothing.

If they make anything and bury it out in deep space, they will eventually plant "clues" somewhere in the game, to push people towards finding it.

Jumping around randomly might find some extreme-edge improbabilities the Stellar Forge has created (like Glowing Green Giants), but almost certainly not new hand-crafted things like alien civilizations.

This is, of course, the opinion of one player with near-zero programming skills and even less inside knowledge of Frontier's programming culture. It is certainly possible that I am wrong. It just doesn't seem likely, to me.

There are some strange codex level creatures and entities that can be very interesting. To fully engage, you need more equipment than a FS and AMFU so most people following 'perceived wisdom' miss out.

Not that anyone has come back to tell us about.

However almost all of the galaxy outside the permit locked regions is unexplored so there is plenty of scope for all kinds of things to be out there.

I believe there’s software people have used to examine the game files (raxxla extremists etc) so anything really relevant would probably have been spoilt by now...

We mostly have to wait for Frontier to sneak new things into the game...

there are the space mollusks that you can encounter, and there was a sentient alien species on Archenar (IIRC?), that got the human treatment of indigenous species and is now extinct.
