are there upgraded pulse lasers?

i remember seeing over charged ones back in beta but i have never seen any evan as good as the freebie ones on my sidey.

not after gimballed or anything, just a normal pulse laser but rated higher than F

if not no worries but i can stop looking..... i am too tight to pay for weapons with projectiles

In short, no.

In long: Weapons have a fixed quality rating for each type and class combination. You can view the quality rating for a weapon as its overall effectiveness under ideal circumstances, disregarding issues like heat generation and power draw. So, for example, Class 2 Pulse Lasers only come in one quality, E, but an overcharged or focused variant of the same weapon can sometimes have a higher rating as they do more damage at the expense of power and heat, and gimballed or turreted versions can have a lower rating as they trade damage for a wider firing arc. So if you're looking for a higher-rated pulse laser, you have three options: Get an overcharged variant, get a focused variant, or get a higher class. The freebie weapons are class 1, so any class 2 pulse laser variant will be rated higher, assuming you have a ship that can fit them.

And to add to this - the "variants" (overcharged/focused/low-heat etc) were common in beta for testing purposes. Now they are extremely rare and hard to find.
