Are Threat 6 wings meant to be this spicy?

So i went in a soloed a threat 6 wing assassination, and let me tell you, it was sweaty, my engineered conda got out with 58% hull, about 90% on all modules from heat damage, and 3 fighers down.

Am i bad at flying or are those missions meant to be spicy?

They are spicy, but a competent pilot should be able to take them on in a Medium ship. High DPS is needed, you can't afford to win through attrition unless flying a Large ship. My Chieftain handles one of such Missions fine without resorting to equipping SCBs, two in a row is difficult. My T10 can chonk her way through at least a few with SCB, haven't been able to stack more to test.

If you are using SLFs, it is best to focus one Vulture down ASAP if your ship can take the beating. SLFs vaporize against two of the Vultures, but can keep one occupied pretty well. If you got 3 Vultures, it's basically pointless to launch an SLF while they are around.

This reminds me that I sure wish Mat rewards increased along with Credits. Sucks that they have a low ceiling. Elite Wing Assassinations should be worth more than 4-5, which is the same reward as infinitely easier Elite 'Solo' Assassinations.

The one i had was a FDL and 2 vultures and man those vultures and FDL could take a nasty beating.

That's the easiest variety. If you can tank the damage while you kill one Vulture, your SLF can then keep the other Vulture occupied and the fight's difficulty plunges through the floor. The FDL gets very evasive (ie not shooting at you) when taking concentrated fire, so if the Vultures are off your back you can be pretty comfy. Assuming you have an SLF that is. If you don't have SLF or are flying a Chieftain/FDL/etc, it's best to just kill the FDL ASAP and keep chaff flowing. You're still gonna be eating Rails, but it does help.

I suppose you can let Security join, they could probably peel the Vultures off you? Haven't tried myself.

Thats basically what i did, was creeped right up onto one vulture, locked him, then just alpha striked him down and rammed, to kill him, then the other vulture i had to just burn through with the FDL hitting me the whole time, and doing the whole fun spiral of doom where we basically jousted each other down.

Next time, let your SLF occupy the last Vulture while you get the FDL. Will be far easier. o7

They used to have Cutters as the target, that was exciting. Now less so.

There are some tricks to making it quite tame in Solo, if you're trying to press the easy button.

The difficulty comes in on the type of ship you fly and its rigging.

A well fitted Corvette can kill the target and its escorts with a bit of drama but no real risk in losing your ship.

I go after the target, let the my Corvette shields and hull absorb the damage until the target is down, then I will go after the escorts, some will leave if the fight is not to their liking.
