Are upgrades location-specific?

I understand that all upgrades would not be available in all locations, case in point- just got my first docking computer after around 6 hours of gameplay by foraging further afield. But I haven't ever seen options for different ship designs anywhere, playing online>solo. Do I need to play public?

Also, whilst I have the opportunity, has anyone else with a crossfire card (I have a HD 7990) noticed the shimmer / breakup into segments of the planets and stars? I have raised a ticket.

Simply..... yes they are. I've not played solo but I assumed it was the same rule

SLI and Crossfire are not supported yet. The support is coming later but is not a priority. Force SLI/Crossfire might significantly reduce performance as well as introduce bugs. I would recommend switching Crossfire off and to see whether there will be a performance increase or not.

It will be the same.

What you can buy seems to depend on the tech level of the system. You probably won't be able to buy advanced stuff from a refinery system.

Not only do you need to find the correct tech level but also get lucky and find them in stock.

It took 2 days for me to see Docking computers at Beagle 2 station and that was after I saw them at Aulin.

So you need to find a shipyard that has stock as well as the ability.

It also seems that there is variable pricing going on as I bought my hauler for 24k which apparently is a lot cheaper than other people have seen and I got all my money back when downgrading back to the sidewinder.

All of this was on Online Solo as well.

I guess buy looking at population size and economy ibootis has good tech stuff as its 2.5m population and high tech. However this doesnt always hold true

I've not played solo, but have you looked in Aulin? In MP Aulin Enterprise always has a good range of ships available and I would expect it to be the same in SP given the system's tech level.
