Let's look at recent events. An invasion of Quivira causes a humanitarian nightmare such that the Duval Princesses appeal to the entire occupied galaxy for aid. Well, one of the Duval Princesses anyway. And she's looking for clothing (which stops bullets) and accessories (that fire bullets).
Fed traders jump at the opportunity to flood Persephone and her black market with all types of "clothing" because we ASSUME that Ms. Duval is leading a rebellion within the Empire. Oh you subversive little minx
Meanwhile, despite feverous objections, our beloved, but not so terribly bright president happens to decide to visit 78 Ursae Majoris, that happens to be at the edge of Fed Space and not entirely friendly to the Federation. She is doing this to help unify the outer systems. Her trip brings her a mere 191 LY from one of the most massive arms shipments campaigns we have seen.
Add to this, the leaders of 78 Ursae Majoris certainly don't want an assassination on their hands, so they make a call across the galaxy for anyone with a pilots license and a cannon to help with "security".
And we even get a Patsy with the intentional targeting of the Sobek Boys. Sounds like a family of bootleggers to me.
So what do we have?
1. An influx of over 6.8 MILLION tons of weapons has already entered persephone from every known corner of the universe, and this campaign is continuing for another 4 days. A mere 10 jumps from where the president will be visiting next week.
2. Every pilot in the universe out mining RES around 78 Ursae Majoris and starting full scale conflict in the Sobek system. Leaving 78 Usae Majoris itself rather unmonitored.
3. Increased traffic in and out of Townshend Hub which will allow quite a bit of those 6.8 Million tons of weapons to find their way here as local security stretched to the limit spend their time scouring local systems for pirates and bootleggers.
Is there any question that the President will lose her life this week at 78 Ursae Majoris? Is there any doubt that the perpetrator that will be paraded around as the fall guy will have a last name of Sobek? And will it shock anyone that the weapon he used to fell the President just so happened to find it's way from Persephone to 78 Ursae Majoris?
And once we bury our president, we'll be facing an armed enemy clothed in the armor we provided using the guns we sold them.....
