I'd like to drop off my Cobra and catch a passenger liner to another system in order to pick up my Eagle.

Nobody can be certain what will be added to the game but they've put passenger-based ships in game and gone on about eventually allowing people to wander about on ships so we'll see.
Remains seen, there's hoping such'll become a feature.
I would pay to be able to walk around my Type 9, perhaps to inspect my cargo, jump into my bunk, or even put my feet up and read a book while a friend takes control (he would have to be a very good pilot of course)- dreams

We have fully functional molecular / conscience reconstruction device at work in any stations (pilot dies -> pilot gets rebuilt in any station).
And you're telling me they can't "warp" owned ships (mere metal/plastic/whatever inert components) to any station? Nonsense!

I dunno. I kinda like the idea of hitching a ride on someone's Orca (player or NPC) and just hang out in the lounge while they work out the navigation to get me and other passengers to the systems we need to go to.
Also opens up the opportunity to get boarded by pirates and having to fight them off FPS-style.
