After reading the background simulation model, and running some tests, it seems to me the answer could be "yes". I'm not saying there's anything wrong with reaping great profits for the grind; I do it myself. I've noticed with a few of the smaller markets, when I adjusted my trading patterns they tended to go "boom" more often. I've even *gasp* traded in low value goods to give the stations I've wanted to "grow" a chance to make a profit from my trades.
I doubt it really makes a difference, but I really wanted to see a population increase from these booms. I wanted to see development levels increase tech, and in turn, require even more high-end goods. Are any of these things really happening? I don't know. I do see something interesting though; an increase in election events where civil war was erupting routinely.
Strange coincidence. Anyone else observe any trends in "system socio-economic engineering"?
