I am not an influencer, nor am I easily influenced.
I have never heard of any of the people mentioned in the link, I do not even understand what that link is about.
I do not know what they do, or want, or whatever, and I intend to never find out.

The Arctic Monkeys are to my knowledge the biggest name band whose first album came out after 1999, and that was 2005 if memory serves.

They are nowhere near as well known as band like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, U2. One of the biggest names in metal is Slipknot and their first album was twenty years ago.

The age of world-straddling bands is behind us, just look at the headliners for major music festivals: they are usually bands that have been around for many years, and were big before Napster.

EDIT: Mumford and Sons, they're an exception to the rule especially in the US.

No I'm not an influencer.

It's all about eyes on vids, likes and getting more and more people to subscribe. It's all about being an extrovert narcissist in front of a camera, hoping for validation and recognition in the eyes of other narcissists who are desperate to emulate the perceived success of those same influencers. More people subscribed = more video views = more income from advertising.

I find the very concept of an influencer to be anathema to me.

The word influencer has a synonym with sinister connotations.

There is a well known book called Power without responsibility. It discusses the power of the British media. Maybe they should update it to cover this online phenomena. This Elite Dangerous community already has its own set of celebrity gamers that players follow.

No I love ED, so much I make fun of myself and the game. But I didn't kickstart support it. Still I would influence any of my friends who have not yet done it, to give it a try. But wait, what friends? Ah well, those few old farts I really like. They are not into gaming, or all have theyre special niche they won't leave. What a pity. I am a bad influencer.
