As someone pointed out somewhere else, September 2014 is the 30th Anniversary of the original game's release. There's a nice marketing dept hook if ever I saw one. Be a shame to miss out on the extra column inches that a release of ED around that time would create...

I might have gone for Alpha (originally £90 CE, but then upgraded to Premium Beta), but as I'm away for 3 weeks in May there didn't seem much point.

You missed out the option to endlessly whinge about it and about the wording used.

Because Yeah, it's unreasonable to expect the English to use English language correctly.

But there is no arguing that a rebate is a kind of a discount.

And access to the first round of the private beta test, does not implicitly state which phase of the first round.

Most importantly, saying nothing means you cant say anything that can be misinterpreted.

Another £100 for alpha is too expensive for me ... I'll wait for beta 1

Can't justify the extra £100 as much as I would love to, then again was stung once in a previous "beta" scheme. Fortunately, this looks in Alpha better than that did in beta..
