CQC Arena - small number of peak players

Its not that hard to find matches, when you look at the correct times.

But yes there are many issues with CQC, mainly the match making.

Okay, so what are the “correct” times then? Because I’ve tried playing CQC many times from 6PM to 11Pm EST in the US, and I honestly have yet to get into one match since trying several times per week since early October. I’ve not tried in the past two weeks because I’ve given up trying.

every time i log onto the arena mode after about an hour i can regularly find one person, you need 4 in freeforall and 6 in TD. so that means min five hours per match but we all know that waiting in match finder with one other person the other guy always leaves within a few secconds.

the demo idea would be great have it playable by in game and as a free demo so peeps can flood it, or modify the rewards for playing so more people will do it to grind. materials more money, reputation for the faction your ship belongs too, maby add a betting on yourself to win feature. theirs not a lot of players on ED anyway but if the arena pays well enough it will draw out the trolls and pirates into the arena so the main is more player friendly.

Well that's five times the number of players I've seen there ever.

And I agree - it should be free, as it is a great demo.. the tag line could read:

"All this, with bigger ships and more play area"

You're right, but they should have done that straight away when it launched, and they had the media attention.

Market it as a free "first step" into ED, instead of just another arena shooter. When there already were plenty of others (and arguably better ones) around and with no entry fee.

But no, they had to try and squeeze that extra 5'er out of people.

I'm afraid it wouldn't make much difference now, if any.

It doesn't really make sense to market it as a "free taste" when it's a wildly different game experience. It's like using free pizza to lure people into a Sushi restaurant.

Hi Mengy.

Most nights you'll find players start around 19.00 UTC with a gradually increasing player base until around 02.00 UTC.

If you have never played before, be prepared to die a lot. There is a misconception that higher ranked players have vastly better equipment but they don't. A top ranked player may have slightly better shields and are able to boost a bit more but generally, the equipment you get as you increase in levels is useless and the starting Condor is very capable of winning high ranked games. Experience and skill is key to the game, not ranks so new players can get frustrated when they die a lot thinking that they are up against superior ships.

Joın the discord channel. We will be happy to have you there.

Yes, it is of course a different game genre, and i didn't say free taste, i said free first step. :)
And i think whoever had a go at "Arena" is perfectly capable of realizing that ED itself is a different sort of game, if they contemplated to take that next step.
What a bigger arena user base could have achieved is to potentially spark an interest of more people into ED proper.
Of course, even if it had been free, the question remains if it actually was good enough to draw substantially more people in to try it out.

The most active times (when the regulars are on) are about 3 EST, to about 7 EST.

Thanks, I think CQC is a great place to improve flying/combat.

Its a very different beast to larger ship combat... but is also absurdly fun. I try to think of it like space mario kart...good god...
