Argument: why open only PowerPlay is bad idea

Ok, I wasn't really set against Open only PowerPlay yesterday, but sleeping on it I understand that it effectively blocks out any 'link' between BGS and PowerPlay.

So while some aspects of PP might be Open only, I think overall meta game and effects should stay universal across all modes.

Huh? What link is blocked? The BGS interactions with PP; basic as they are; would remain exactly the same.
