Powerplay Arissa Lavigny-Duval Power Play Cycle 20

Pff I've made four runs to Olelbis tonight (bringing 224 in my clipper once and 3x 75 in my Asp) but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Hip 22281 is too close to Kamadhenu it seems and therefor too much of a good target for the last-minute merit grinders. Too bad, but part of the game.

I felt annoyed at HIP 22281 too but your last sentence is right - bad stuff happens sometimes. But keeping Olebis high was still worthwhile. The sensible view in our subReddit is that we should just accept HIP 22281 since all the other candidates are good ones - as long as we win both the Preparation battles: v. Hudson in Af Leporis and v. Winters in Kappa. And we are ahead in both but not decisively so. So deliver Corruption Reports (and/or use Nominations if you haven't yet used them yet this cycle) into one of those.

Yeah I just posted in that other thread that it's part of the game. Be it people actively acting against ALD's interests or just last-minute merit grinding, it's all part of our universe.
The part of PP I still don't really get though -and much respect to our research team that apparently does- is how much this system could hurt us if it actually got expanded into? I mean in CC's? Doesn't seem to cost that much if it got added to our bubble but I really have no idea.

Never worry; I still struggle with lots of PP and it doesn't help that there are many bugs that affect what you would expect would be logical.

The important thing is that the figures in-game for systems never include the Overhead (though they do, after recent changes, mostly include Upkeep). Every system has Income, from which you need to subtract both Upkeep and Overhead. Upkeep differs for each system (usually between 21 and 30-something). Then Overhead is a flat 62 CC per system (at our Power's size; it is less for smaller powers). So HIP 22281 is shown as Potential Value 20 CC in-game (Income - Upkeep). But on top of that you have to take off 62 CC for Overhead, so it will really bring in -42 CC every cycle (so we lose that). And it will be really hard to get rid of for arcane reasons to do with Turmoil rules.

But the other ones will more than compensate for that*. Of course, systems go from Preparation into Expansion next cycle before they become full ALD Control systems, and they only get through Expansion if we end next cycle in profit (i.e. not in Turmoil). Which may not be easy; but that is a problem for next cycle. Phew.

[*Edit: my quick arithmetic says that if the current top 6 Preps get through to becoming Control systems, overall we will be +69 CC better off, even when one of them is the -42 CC HIP 22281]

Yup.
When i saw Hip 22281 start to rise fast i had a feeling it might be unstoppable.
Anyway.. RL stuff finished early so i'll put some more reports (and nominations) where they seem needed.
On top of the nearly 20k i already delivered..
I may have a trucking problem..

The problem with breaking each week down like that is that we have a starting deficit over 200cc. Winters and Mahon have to fortify because of the undermining they face. We have to fortify to break even, so mass undermining can doom us.
