I agree with anything Psylim wrote. The combinations of lasers and multi-cannon is a good start. I would not advise a beginner to pack railguns or anything like that. They are useful, but they are not a beginners weapon.

If anything, the progression path would be like this:
- first two gimbaled lasers and one gimbaled multicannon.
- When you feel confident in keeping your ship pointed at a target, try fixed lasers for a bit more of a punch.
- When you feel confident in distance control, try a regular gimbaled cannon instead of the multicannon and try to destroy the enemies power plant. That might not be faster, but it's good training.
.
Everything else comes after that. The priority of an Eagle pilot is to be agile and avoid incoming fire. Learning in a ship like this really teaches you important survival skills. There's plenty of pilots around, who started combat only on durable and heavily shielded ships. Many of them never learned some very basic evasion maneuvers. Their ship just did not teach them that evasion would be required. In the Eagle, you quickly learn that part, which will also be helpful when flying bigger ships.
