ARRGGGH...... killed by security again ..

I lost 2 T7 trader ships to security as I approached stations in Federation space. I finally figured out I had 46k cr fine in Federation so worked on getting it paid. I finally cleared the one federation fine I had. thought that would stop federation security ships killing me as I approached their stations. I do have a dormant fine for San Jorlan but as far as I know t hat is not federation as I could not pay it with other one. Instead, as I approached station on t rade route security forces again took out my ship (hauler this t ime..slow learner but do learn) is 30 seconds. no fines. only cargo 8 gold for station. I can not figure out what or why this is happening. I was hostile to federation before paying fine but.... any help possible would be great otherwise I am about eone with this game. almost out of money with rebuys and not willing to start all over. wekk nit unless it is another stupid thing I am doing or not doing. then I would at least think about starting all over. help please.

I was hostile to federation.

If you're hostile with a faction their ships will consider you a trespasser and shoot on sight. At least, that's my experience of it. Hostile means hostile.

Only advice I can give is that you can (slowly) clear up your reputation by handing in (in this case) Federation bounties.

so, if you are right, then only way for me to play my kind of game again is to go bounty hunting? if this is true then what happens if I clear my game and start over? I assume, if I even care to do a restart, that restarting would clear everything. I could be wrong about this also.

If you clear your game then your status will also be cleared. I wouldn't go so far, though, if it's only the Feds who hate you, there's plenty of other places to go - when they were hostile with me I went elsewhere and my rating with them slowly went back to normal over time as I claimed bounties. You could take Fed missions from neutral stations as well I suppose.

I have a few minor factions who are hostile with me but that's easier to avoid.

so why would a dormant fine make me hostile? I paid it off much sooner than another fine I had. forget which group and it was not quite as high but it took me weeks to even find it and then another week to pay it. not hostile then. this fine was days at most not even a week. if it is missions, not bounty hunting, t hen I can probably do it but can't believe t hat would be the only way. actually not believing it does not help any but still.

i doubt the dormant fine has made you hostile to them... smuggling slaves upsets them, doing certain missions upsets them... it takes time to go from neutral to unfriendly to hostile... Also doing combat zones and picking non fed side if they are fighting the feds will also upset them i think...

You can get it back by doing any fed missions you come across... try landing at fed outposts if they let you land there and picking supply missions for the outpost or picking delivery missions to either other fed outposts or to non fed systems etc

I finally figured out I had 46k cr fine in Federation so worked on getting it paid. .

That is a little more than a friendly fire accident.. I would suggest that you may need to work on that problem first before trying you hand at trading..

There are a few empire and alliances systems around with federation allied minor factions where you can
claim bounties, pay fines and get the occasional fed mission to clear up your rep without the
bother of being attacked by the feds. Pemoeri is one that comes to mind - Empire system with fed
presence.

Firstly I'd suck it up and buy a hauler or an eagle to sort this mess out. (can sell it later with only a 10% loss)
Paying Rebuy for a Yak7 each time is going to hurt your pocket.

Anarchy systems are good for sorting out fines, maybe find one and pay up.

I'd definitely prioritise sorting out your faction relations before continuing to trade. (check in your Status Menu)
Doing non paying charity missions will also dramatically affect your factional relationships for the better.

Keep an eye on what items are illegal in specific systems. A simple scan with the wrong cargo can land you in hot water quickly.

Best of luck Commander.

There's lots of independent systems as well as the Empire and Alliance. Plenty people are hostile with the Federation and have no issues.

I get all of the above. however, other than the fine not being paid immediately I did none of t he things mentioned above. no slaves, no illegals other than the liquer carried to wrong place. no bad attacks as I do not attack only run. I get it than I can probably work out of it. what I do not get is why it happened at all. but be that as it may, thanks for all the help. I think I will just stop for awhile and ponder this game. too many things that do not make sense to me and playing mad does not make for fun. ty all again.
