Engineers Arsenic? hmmm

I need Arsenic to increase the range on my poor 12 ly FDL range, made the 20 jump trip to hang around farseer area and spent a lot and I mean a lot of time driving around looking for arsenic, can't find any at all.

Is there a particular type of thing to look for on planets? ie Bronze Chondrite, Mesosiderite, Metallic Meteorite, Outcrop

Look for rocky worlds and as Arsenic is not rare material, it should be obtainable from most items. Considering the links earlier Mesosiderite, Bronzite Chondrite, Common Outcrop give more of common materials, so I'd keep on going for them, but if you find less rare rocks just check them out on your way. You just don't need to run specifically after rare-to-see Metallic Meteorites. Arsenic does drop less than Sulphur for example, but if you keep going you should find one or two every now and then.

Every now and then? What kind of statistic is that?

I've travelled 360 light years to get to what is listed by the prospector speadsheet as the planet with the most arsenic on it (Nungk 4) and after 2 hours and zapping maybe 20 rocks have not released arsenic.

For a poxy level 1 fsd upgrade this is totally, utterly broken.

Don't give me some crap about the zen of randomly zapping rocks.

Where FD is getting it wrong is relying on the RNG to make a task take 2 hours.

The better model is this:

Make what the player needs to do absolutely clear. Like travel 360 lightyears to Nungk 4, ask someone where to find Arsenic, go get it.

But make those tasks challenging, like the arsenic stash is protected by skimmers, or the journey needs you to fuel scoop, or the destination is a high-G planet, or the contact requires you to marry their daughter before they tell you where the arsenic is...

It's not rocket science. If I want to wander around at random while f-all happens I can do that at work, it's not a valid gameplay model.

In 2.0, I found Arsenic on the same planet that gave me the Meta-alloys mission, not that I can remember which planet that was... Since then, I have only gotten 1 more unit of it, which was as a mission reward last night.

Did you check the sticky?
-
from the sticky- "ETA DRACONIS: Planet A4, has Arsenic and Polonium on it, A7 has Arsenic and Yttrium, both planets have quite a few other important materials on them. Thanks again Arjin"
-A Prospectors Guide to the Galaxy (collating data on prospecting in Horizons)
-[DISTANT WORLDS] Cartographic & Prospecting Public Service [NEW]

Confirmed, ETA DRACONIS A4 is a nice place for Arsenic prospecting. Inside one large crater, I found 4 Arsenics and 1 Polonium during approx. one hour and half. Terrible rate, it really should be set something like 5x more by FD.

BTW, before this, I tried Deciat 1 for approx. 3 hours and nothing was found.

I found a bunch in the inner ring of Deciat 7. The asteroids I prospected that said "Material Content: Medium" or whatever seemed to drop at least one. Also, Cadmium, Molybdenum were found. I wonder if just looking at Pristine Metallic rings is not necessarily ideal anymore?

I have never seen arsenic yet, its the only thing missing now for the level 2 FSD range upgrade and is the next thing I am looking for now I have the Praseodymium.
I found Praseodymium and lots of Samarium in a metalic ring around a gas giant about 500Ly away from Sol (>150Ly from Maia in the direction away from Sol) (I had to go this far away to avoid the pirates with superweapons).

I am going to search on some of the remote planets out there for it. I did try Metallic, Metal Rich, Rocky and Icy rings, but none of them gave me Arsenic, the micro materials given were mostly Sulphur, Carbon, Iron and Nickle.

Thanks to a tip by another cmdr i found Praseodymium in the rings of Deciat 5 or 6 (I forget which, but there's only 1 set of metal rich rings in that sys)

Edit* Ninja'd by a cmdr 2 posts up, must read the whole thread! It's Deciat 7 :)

Still no arsenic :(

Went down to a small rocky moon, jumped in the SRV, blasted about 3-4 chrondite bromite (or whatever those rocks are called),

then I started to feel slightly nauseus (VR) so I crawled slowly back to my ship.

Went to a rocky ring around a gas giant and spent a bit of time there.

So, do I just keep randomly blasting rocks. It is kinda boring, I almost fell asleep and crashed into an asteroid.

Can Arsenic be found in the asteroid rings?
I really do not want to have to use the SRV (It looks great, but I can only stomach about 5-10 minutes max, otherwise I might end up involuntarily redecorating)

There are some settings in options for maintaining horizon view in the SRV for VR users, plus the reduce head shake have you tried those?

P.S. Arsenic is typically found in Metallic Meteorites, Mesosoderites, and Metal Outcrops, occasionally on Bronzites although rarely these days..

P.S.S Read the stickies!
