Arsenic Near Far Sight Base

If any one is looking for Arsenic near Far Sight Base for those shield upgrades, I've found a planet with arsenic nearby.

Shona A 2

It's a High Metal Content Planet

It has pristine reserves (not sure that matters).

Commons are: Arsenic, Zinc, Germanium
Rares: Tin, ???
V.Rare: Antimony

You need to look for Messosiderites (single line on the bottom of the wave scanner). Outcrops (two separated lines) apparently sometime contain Arsenic but in the 100+ or so I've dug up I haven't found any. Ignore Bronzite Chondites (3 lines) they contain junk only.

I've found the terrain type doesn't seem to matter (anyone know different?) so it's best to put down on a wide open plain as it's easier to travel long distances. Just go in a straight line making occasioanl spins until you see those single lines on the wave scanner (even just a few spots of it) and home in on your Messosiderite. It you don't see any travel a longish distance first - seems to reset the spawns (?) - before you circle again.

I've mined 2 Arsenic in 3 hours doing this (but more Zn, Sn & Ge). So anyone had more luck prospecting Arsenic another way?

I sure haven't. I wonder if there are any corrolates to the chemical makeup of the surface objects? Like the color of the planet or the type of star, etc.?

Couldn't get past that..

I've found 1 arsenic in two hours by mining ice rings, for reference [blah]

Update: I'm now up to 2 arsenic in 3 hours by mining ice rings for a further hour, so ice rings are par for the course so far :(

You can also get Arsenic with missions. I spent a few hours going from station to station as the missions took me, only taking missions for decent engineer stuff and managed 3 Arsenics. Wasn't counting how long it took, but it was probably about 1 Arsenic per 2 hours of mission running. I also got plenty of other materials, data and commodities.

When you find a mission offering arsenic, make a note of what type of economy it is (extraction, high tech, etc), and what state the system is in (boom, famine, etc).
It's too soon to know, but there is some evidence that mission-reward type-likelyhood may be affected by factors like this.

I'm also keeping an eye out for arsenic in missions. My home-base system is a high-tech, and so far reward materials seem almost entirely either manufactured or data, very few elements. Certainly no arsenic. :(

You can also get not one piece of Arsenic by doing any of the above in any of the mentioned locations ☺
