Arsenic- Or Lack there of

Ah, so one goes to the tourist beacon in Exioce with the planet with Polonium and harvest the Crystal Needles?

I have not used that method myself.

Po is not that hard to find in my experience.
I just filter a body search for high Po, or trade some antimony.

Learning to properly fly the srv did more for my mat gathering than anything else, since you can cover so much more ground, hahaha.
These folks, rollin' on the ground and all...

Thanks to your all for all the advice and direction. NOTE: I do know how to use the wave scanner viewing different type of rocks! There just seems to be an issue with my past experience with Metallic, Mesos?? and Crop where with a planet reading of 2.5 and above I would at least obtain one Arsenic, but now that is not the case. Was just frustrated at the time hence this post; as this has been a struggle of late getting arsenic (in my case anyway) as I have not needed any for awhile. Also, why are most of these rocks in a unbelievably hilly, terrible terrain area of the planets.. Just FD having a laugh I would imagine. :)

I do appreciate the suggestions though.

Cheers

Where are you driving? I've found craters to be the best place to look. If I go driving on a plain or similar, I get hardly any.

I spent a few hours earlier helping a friend out who's in dire need of engineering materials. He hated the thought of surface mining so I tagged along for the ride to basically talk him through the wavescanner and show him how to do backflips on low-G planets.

He ended up with about 30 arsenic without even looking for it.

It's out there. Goibniugo 6 C A

btw the Arsenic was dropping mostly from bronzite chondrite, strangely enough.

Thanks, I do drive into craters mostly but again, I have not found much in those alas... I will keep looking for better planets with fewer other minerals and try that method...

I recommend going to a planet that is high in both Polonium AND Arsenic. That way you can gather Arsenic and Polonium (1 unit > 9 Arsenic) and have very good run.

I went to system HIP 15886 and then moon B 1 a the other day. It has a 1.9% Arsenic rate and a 1.2 % Polonium. After driving around for a couple of hours, I had 15 Arsenic and 9 Polonium, which ended up being 96 Arsenic after visiting a material trader.

You can search the "Bodies" section of eddb.io for planets with the elements you want and then sort by concentration. Perhaps you'll find something even better.

For me, my pain is the very rare manufactured goods - particularly military grade alloys and military grade supercapacitors. Yes, I know where to hunt for them. And yes, I got a lot of them yesterday. But it took way more time than SRV driving for Raw mats and was way less fun. Tonight I get to go hunt for more Proto Heat Radiators. Joy. [noob]

In my experience, what materials drop is based on some variables that get set when you join a session. The short of it is if you drive around on a planet that has 2.9% Arsenic and don't see any in 15 minutes, log out and log back in, and try again. I spent a couple fruitless hours driving around on Deciat 6F, next to Felicity Farseer's place, and got no arsenic. I quit the game in frustration and went to sleep. I got up the next morning, logged in at the same exact spot as when I quit out and decided to drive around just a little bit longer since I was already on the planet. Ended up finding 5 chunks in the next half hour. Same planet, same place, different session. If you don't see any of what you're looking for within the first 15 minutes, you probably won't see any an hour later.

I've followed this rule ever since and have never had a shortage. Good luck.

p.s. don't forget the Material Trader can help out with this too. You can trade up/down for mats now.

As has been posted several times in here but apparently ignored by the OP and others complaining about Arsenic and trying to find it...

POLONIUM is the G5 Raw Material at the top of the chart that includes Arsenic. (1) Polonium converts to (9) Arsenic at a Raw Material Trader.

Planets that contain even small amounts of Polonium tend to spawn it more readily than Arsenic tends to spawn. Don't know why that is, but that seems to be the way things are working at present.

So... FORGET ABOUT ARSENIC! Find a planet with a reasonable percentage of Polonium and make things easier on yourselves!

Anyone who is still out searching for Arsenic in 3.02 has not been paying attention!

Some Cmdrs are REALLY not getting the Material Traders......Guys FORGET grinding for any minor 3 or even level 4 Mats/data and Grind Level 5.....Then trade down!!

No excuse, can't find this, can't find that Bolony!!!

I was mining in Beta-3 Tucani, planet 5, ring A, which is a metal rich ring that is the highest I have seen with arsenic (about 3%).

3.0 has increased the amount of materials in rings. It has certainly done so in metal-rich rings. You will average about 6 material fragments per roid now.

So in Beta-3 Tucani 5A, you will average 1 arsenic fragment every 6 roids. I can easily prospect and strip a roid in under a minute. So that's about 6 minutes per arsenic fragment.

Yeah, I'm really getting tired of all the players whining about how bad the exchange rate is going UP - as in trading G3s for G5s. If you don't like it, don't use it. More importantly, grind the high level mats and trade down - it multiplies like crazy!

As a side note, anything in the same row as Biotech Conductors, Exquisite Focus Crystals, and Modified Embedded Firmware is GOLDEN now! Missions give 3-5 units of those G5 mats/data all the time. Stock up, convert down! You should never have a problem with Cracked Industrial Firmware ever again (1 MEF > 9 CIF).

Heh, yeah, I was hoarding MEF and Exquisite focus crystals in the lead up to 3.0 dropping and so have made out like a bandit. I just needed to top up some of my raw mats and I am now good to go.

Now that the purge materials button has been removed from your ship, the material trader is the easiest way to clear out large amounts of materials. Last night I cleared out most of my class-1 and class-2 raw materials so I could do some serious mining. I got a couple of a few of the class-5 mats for my trouble.

The exchange rate is stupid, but occasionally it's handy.

If you can't find a material after 20 minutes, re-instance or try another planet or system. Wasting an hour or even 2 hunting a material in one place without re-instancing is madness.
