Hahah well this is delayed actually too but I think they are talking about releases of promised dates. Another feather in David's cap here.

"the semi-private alpha release of Star Citizen’s dogfighting module has slipped from this afternoon to the indefinite future. In a notice posted yesterday to the Roberts Space Industries main site, Roberts informed fans that there are still too many bugs to squash for the product to take flight. "We’re very close… just not close enough to launch tomorrow," the notice read."

A disappointment but not completely unexpected. I haven't lost faith in CIG getting SC out the door, but I'm certainly glad I have ED to play in the meantime.

Good to see ED getting attention from the US press, even if it is sadly at the expense of SC. I didn't back it, but it really would be great if ED were not the only success story in the resurgence of the space sim genre.

Is this the first time ED has been on the front page of a prominent US website? I haven't exactly been going out of my way to look for this so I would have probably missed it if it had. In any case this is a bit of a coup isn't it!? :)

As happened with SC's previous delay, I think this can only be a good thing for ED. All of those SC fans with pent-up space-sim desire will turn to ED while they wait.

Having a US website with such high-profile putting the 2 products side-by-side will immediately get the product in front of many North Americans who may never have heard of it. And they'll say "hey lets try this other product" while they wait for SC to get released.

Watch those backer numbers leapfrog 50,000 in the next few hours...

Lately I've noticed more people join these forums or the /r/EliteDangerous ones and vent acrimoniously on Star Citizen. I'd never seen this elevated amount of bitter self-righteousness in our community. I'm all for Star Citizen backers joining the Elite beta but I'd hate to think that the ones dejected by SC are now negatively affecting the atmosphere here. It sets up a completely unnecessary rivalry between Elite and SC and gives a bad impression to non-backers considering Elite Dangerous as a future purchase.

Well, the same as ED bashers give SC community bad impression on CIG forums :)

I personally ignore both kind. There are some justified disappointment with CIG handling release dates, but overall, I am not interested. I am interested in having good running ED and well done testing.
