Art refresh for older ships cockpits.

I realise this is probably going to be way down Frontier's list of things to do, but with the new ships such as the Krait Mk2 and the Mamba having such fantastically well detailed looking cockpits, especially in VR, this has only thrown into stark contrast how plain, bare and low res some of the older ship interiors look now by comparison.

When you see inside the new ships like the Mamba with its little consoles with animated screens and all the little details down in that little nook, and then of course there's the great detailed interior of the Krait Mk2, so that it actually feels like the flight deck of a ship. Compare that to the older ship interiors, some of which were never up to much in the first place, and there's a big difference in styles now. A lot of the older ship interiors are just big empty spaces by comparison, with a few chairs stuffed in them for multi crew purposes. Take the Anaconda bridge for instance, it looks like a floor in a vacant office building, not the bustling purposeful bridge of a frigate class multirole ship. Same could be said for all the big ships actually, a few chairs up by the canopy with acres of empty space behind. Even the smaller ones don't fare much better on the whole. The AspX and T6 probably have the 2 dullest most boring cockpits in the game, being just big empty bubbles, closely followed by the Viper Mk3&4 in the minimalism stakes. They could really do with being enriched with a bit more detail now.

I often get the feeling, like so much stuff in ED, that the cockpits of many of those ships were largely unfinished and rather placeholder in nature, with more planned for them at a later date. Largely due to the fact that at the time the vast majority of players couldn't really look around their cockpits anyway, and so there was no point for the extra work. Then along came VR and of course we now also have the camera controls so that everyone can have a snoop around their cockpits and take screenshots etc. So some of these cockpits could now really do with a well deserved facelift.

So yes, exactly that, can we have a revisit and spruce up of the older ship interiors to bring them up to the same standard as the most recent crop of ships have been given. Please!

+ over 9000!!!!

A lot of the cockpits look just plain ugly (YOU!!!! Lakon Spaceways!). When comparing the AspX and other Lakons with the new Alliance ships from Lakon, we definitly need more of that. I mean, on something like the Type-6 such a sort of cockpit makes sense, but it should stop right there! The Anaconda looks just empty and some others miss details too.
I'd really like to see a fresh paint on lots of the ships :)

If I could tweak that request: add new variants/Marks with nice neat 'n' tidy cockpits, but keep the old ones. Or, if you've invested a lot of time in engineering etc. and don't want to start again - at least give the option of picking our cockpit type (I actually think cockpit options would sell a hell of a lot more than paintjobs and shipkits!)

If I look at the Alliance ships, the cockpit looks so complete with the monitor panels on the sides, etc., almost Star Citizen level. I wish they would do something like this with the ASP and Viper. I'd use the Alliance ships alone because of this, but they're too combat orientated. Adder needs a bit of polish, too.

They'd also require a lot more work than a paint job. Perhaps a better comparison would be with the ship kits, and yeah I'd certainly be more likely to spend money on ship interior alterations than external kits. I suppose to a degree they already cater for the cockpit by way of the bobble heads and string lights, but that's really just window dressing rather than any change to the way the cockpit looks. They could do grungy looking Raider style cockpits to go with the external paint jobs and ships kits, or they could do super high tech looking upgrade kits etc. Being able to adjust the interior lighting would be good too, especially being able to switch the interior lights on and off for starters, or maybe changing the colours slightly, like dim red lighting for that red alert battlestations feeling.

Firstly though I'd just like them to give the older ships a bit of an art pass so to speak, to brush up some of the older artwork a bit and fill in some of those bland ships cockpits and bridges with a bit more detail and flavour. I did a bit of deep core mining recently and treated myself to a Mamba and an FDL, because why not? The difference between the two from how they look internally is quite stark. The FDL has a nice looking cockpit it has to be said, but you look around and then look behind you, and there's just this long empty corridor. To your front and sides, it's all shiny and nice looking but also very plain with almost no detail. It couldn't be more different from the Mamba which is full of lovely little bits of detail all around you. Considering they're from the same shipyard, there's quite a difference in styles.

I would rather see several stages. When I buy my ship, it should look brand new on the interior, but after flying it for x number of hours, it begins to look a little worn inside and then continues to show wear and tear. There could then be an option to refurbish it in a station. This way, explorers would see the interior of their ship slowly degrade, but could then buff it up when they got back.
