As you 'rank up' as an exobiologist, the colour/makeup of your Artemis suit changes to reflect the new rank.
Q. is this merely a cosmetic change, or does it come with some gameplay advantage...?

I didn’t know this happened at all, suits skins are cosmetic and so have no gameplay advantage other than affecting the confidence of the player.

Nothing that i know of

Same happens for the other on-foot career paths - they get extra cosmetics for their suits.

Path, singular. Mercenary rank is the only other one which gives Dominator cosmetics. No freebies for the Maverick.

You get some new colors to put on your suit if you wish, but they are just cosmetic. And garish, I might add
