Elite / Frontier Arthur C. Clarke died

I know it's not a general discussion forum, but given how Clarke is relevant to the astronautics in general and how docking sequence in Frontier resembled the one from 2001 (up to and including the Blue Danube as tribute), if this topic fits anywhere, it's the Frontier board.

Farewell Clarke, I hope you will dream, even though I don't believe in that.

DraQ, I totally agree, this is a very apt place for tributes to a great man and without exception a true visionary.

Very sad news,

RIP

I read a number of his novels, including the entire Rama series.
Some great stories and amazing ideas in general.

I have only read the Oddyesy series of his books, but did enjoy them a lot.

I only read the Odyssey books as well, and they were fantastic, so I'll definitely be sure to read a load of his others.

A sad day, definitely. :(

Well he reached 90, that's quite an achievement !

Of course though, it's sad to read that he passed away :(.

I read the Odyssey books and watched the films based on 2001 and 2010 and enjoyed them - I never got around to reading his other works, yet. He got to see the real 2001 though and it's a shame he won't be around when to see the real 2010 as well. Still, no spaceships like the Discovery or AI's like HAL yet - but we're getting there and his vision was a very positive view of what could've happened by now - very inspiring.
